I read this post today of @whatsup on how she bought her first crypto(Bitcoin) and what her experience was at that time(2016) with it and I thought I should share my story as well... again.

I got into crypto in 2017... Yes lucky number '17. I first heard of it from a good friend of mine who already had some Bitcoin since the beginning of that year and the whole idea was so fascinating. It was after I came back from Norway and the perspective from which this internet money has been presented to me was from an investment perspective.

Something like putting money to work ;).

It took me however about four months since I first heard about crypto until I actually bought some. My first coins had been LTC. I bought 10 of them at the price of $50 each and stored them as soon as possible on a software wallet.

God, I'm handsome...๐Ÿ˜€

I made the purchase through a Romanian exchange. Soon after that, the CEO was prosecuted for money laundering and got to jail. The exchange though wasn't a scam and no one lost any money with it, as far as I know.

I had mixed feelings towards crypto at that time, though. On one hand I saw these as a money making opportunity, on the other the tech seemed so "right in time" for society as a whole, but at the same time I was a bit afraid of loosing money.

Hence I sold the 10 LTC that I bought in October 2017 as my first coins just two weeks later for $50 in profit. I guess in November I got back in the market just to loose quite some good money by buying tops, but I don't regret it all because the bear market that followed taught me a lot.

It was February 2018 when I joined Steem as well and that kept me even more connected to crypto. My first crypto hasn't been Bitcoin though. I don't know why, but alts have always seemed more appealing. I'm pretty much in the same position now as well.

You know what's funny, though? Back then I trusted software wallets less than I trusted exchanges. I was using Jaxx wallet at that time and at some point I felt more safe holding my coins on Poloniex than on that wallet. I don't know why, but the idea of holding some virtual money on an app didn't sound appealing at all.

Although it was virtual money after... What value would they have and what was there to loose, if virtual?

I was fascinated though about blockchain transfers and these network confirmations I had to wait for when transferring funds. These seemed real. Now it all seems so natural, but I still feel like a noob in crypto. What about you, "how did you purchase your first crypto?"

Thanks for attention, Adrian
