You probably know that there is going to be a hard fork on hive in the coming days. Probably you have read plenty of posts describing the changes that will be implemented. I won't take your time here and go through them one by one.

There is one change that will change the dynamics on hive

After this hard fork, hive will have an almost linear reward curve, at least during the first 24 hours after post publication. In addition the annoying 5 minutes window just after the post is published will be dropped. This means that we won't have to hurry to vote at the best moment and we don't need to care whether there are upvotes after ours. We will be able to vote from the first second to 24 hours after publication without the fear of losing curation rewards. This will put us on an equal level with automated voting.

The only factors that will matter will be our hive power, the vote weight and the voting percentage that we use.

This means that you will get roughly the same amount of curation rewards if you post within the first 24 hours.

What about comments?

So far it was very unprofitable to upvote comments on hive. There is the 0.02 hive threshold that needs to be crossed before any payout is triggered. Then if you upvote a comment and nobody votes afterwards, you will lose on curation rewards.

In a way everything is done to discourage you from upvoting comments at the moment and tools like beer, engage, luv were created to reward people for interacting on our posts.

How HF25 will affect voting on comments

For the blockchain, every comment is considered the same as a post. This means that there will be a linear reward curve also for comments during the first 24 hours. After HF25, if I upvote a comment with at least 0.02$, I will get my full curation rewards. The person who gets the upvote, will get a full author reward.

Engaging and commenting will become a new way to grow on hive

There will be still the dust threshold that will prevent a lot of people from upvoting comments but if you have a couple of thousands hive power, you can start to upvote comments without loosing curation rewards. This is a great thing to encourage engagement on our posts!

This will also offer the opportunity to small fishes to get some nice upvotes if they engage and comment.

I can even imagine that there might be some curation projects that will concentrate on rewarding comments and engagement. They will be able to earn as much as if they did the same for posts.

In general, I believe that we are going to see more commenting and engagement. It will provide small accounts a way to grow organically by being active. It will also mean more traffic on posts and more page views for hive in general.
