I thought I had an income problem, but I had a spending problem
^ This. Then not paying attention to how much we want to rationalize spending like we need it but just actually want it. I forgot the term but it's something along the lines of post depression or buyer's regret right after purchase. I think that feeling is a healthy warning mechanism about our spending habits.
