Weird? Maybe not for most people, but weird for me. Back in the days when cell phones didn't exist--not even in the movies--all we had were landlines. And I detested talking on the phone so much that I once pulled the wire out of the wall because I didn't want to hang up on someone. So, taking a job as a telephone operator was weird for me. It was for a summer during college. I operated a switchboard for an answering service. It was as bad as you imagine. But I didn't quit. Boss even asked me to keep in touch and let him know when I graduated! All the wretched jobs I had in my youth, I was never fired. There are other 'horror' stories :))
