RE: How 'Agile' Is Your Business?

I own a small e-commerce microbusiness, and your post has made me realise something. We've been struggling for a while, trying to maintain agility (and not doing very well at it).

But I've realised that there is something going on; as a small business with limited resources, we are being hit with a huge amount of bureaucracy, and all of it is from external sources. In particular, large companies like Amazon, eBay, Royal Mail, banks etc are pushing endless new requirements on us which often take huge effort to implement.

The "lightbulb" moment which your post has inspired is that in fact, this is deliberate policy by the large companies; by burying their smaller "partners" in constant change, it prevents those smaller businesses growing to become competitors.
