It's the final SaturdaySavers report of the year !

I discovered SaturdaySavers half way through 2022 - 24 weeks ago. It feels like forever ! When I set my goals, I was (being honest) taking a total stab in the dark at it. In retrospect, I was probably too cautious. But it might also be a reflection of the way that pushing to achieve goals is a motivator and that if I hadn't been hustling to beat the goals, the figures I set were what I'd have done without them.

Rather than posting my big summary spreadsheet, which has become unwieldy, I'll post a little summary of how I did under each of my target areas;

Hive Power

I hit this goal comfortably, helped by a combination of actual post rewards, and buying the dip whenever the HIVE price dropped. I'm hopeful that next year I'll be able to earn more from compounding, as I don't expect to have the same amount of Fiat cash to throw at it !

LEO

Another one where I hit the target. Setting myself a goal purely based on earnings and excluding bought LEO might have been a mistake because it made the maths a lot more complex ! On the other hand, it forced me to learn a lot more about how delegation and other ways of passively earning LEO work, so it wasn't all bad.

HBD

HBD earnings is another one where just throwing Fiat at the problem was the answer ! HBD posting rewards come in steadily but at a relatively slow rate, and buying some with Fiat was definitely the way to build up enough HBD to make the monthly interest payment meaningful.

I did jokingly tell my wife how much I'd need to put into HBD to be able to take half the interest and give up work.... she thought it might be a bit much of a risk. But I've got a couple of hundred liquid HIVE that I plan to switch into HBD once the price goes back up to around 35 cents.

EDSMM

I hit the 50 target for EDSMM quite early on, but it was only once I doubled it that I started to see the EDS being mined at a sensible rate. I'm not up to 6.88 EDS, an increase of 0.38 over last week.

Posting Rate

I hit 17 posts in December, slightly under my 20 a month target. But considering I was wiped out with a really bad cold for two weeks, and it's the busiest time of the year for the business I run, I think I did a really good job catching up with myself, and I'm not upset at only being 3 short.

Conclusion

Having goals really motivated me. Next week, I'll cook up the 2023 goals. I expect to have less fiat to put in, but to be able to benefit more from compounding.

Probably the biggest thing I'll need to work on is improving my posting rate, and that may be a combination of making slightly shorter posts, finding less time consuming ways to generate imagery (always a stumbling block !), and finding better ways to manage posting itself in terms of getting something written when I have an idea, then tidying them up later on to make posts.

Happy New Year everyone, and see you "on the other side" 😁
