Obligatory TL'DR: Using a blogpost on HIVE to promote the idea of the Ethermore.xyz community utilizing the HIVE blockchain, allowing users to catalog their stories and lore, possibly crafting an NFT inventory system. Proposing the use of a HIVE Tribe to facilitate a purpose built specific community with its own token.
The point of this blogpost is twofold, first to see what the HIVE community thinks about this project and if they think it would work on HIVE (comments very welcome), and secondly, to post this blog directly to the lead/dev team at Ethermore.

Hero Tulwick, half-dragon wizard ID:02194 of Ethermore.xyz

While traversing through the discord-sphere I stumbled across Ethermore.

To start, I am a huge D&D nerd and a big fan of pixel-art. I love collaborative storytelling, fantasy driven narrative, as well as a decent built rules set for an entertaining tactical game. So when I went over to Ethermore.xyz the site really appealed to me. It's a fledgling project seeking to create a world inhabited by player owned NFT keys representing characters in and of the lore. While the 'game' isn't there, the characters are interesting enough for me to toss in.

So I minted Tulwick, Hero to the Castle, half-dragon ledgerscript wizard (pretend you hear thunderclaps cause he is awesome). Since I own this guy, I believe in adding value to him. Isn't that part of the it? What kind of value could I add to him? Well, for starters, I could write an introduction blog for him and bake it into the HIVE blockchain. None of the lore of Ethermore has truly been established yet, so why not write a story about how he earned his 'Hero' title? I could also take his artwork, save it (obviously), and edit it myself. I have a knack for pixel-art & animation so that is precisely what I am doing.

Amphlux pixel-art animation of Tulwick, on-going work in progress.

The more history Tulwick has, the more Tulwick has interacted with the world of Ethermore (pre and post genesis), the more art I add to/for him, the more he potentially has value. If I can ever part with him. lol.

Ethermore.xyz use-case on HIVE

Ethermore is a proposed DAO which seeks to create a lore based universe inhabited by player owned NFT keys. Ethermore.xyz is an emerging online community built on Ethereum. Users mint owned NFT player characters to then roleplay in the decentralized fantasy world of Ethermore. The community is young and being built, crafting genesis block lore now within the discord community.

Ideas from the community have already been abundant there. Many, many people are requesting an inventory system, ways of adding items, weapons, magic to their characters. The problems with that are glaring to anyone who has used the Ethereum network recently. Gas prices. Interacting with the Ethereum blockchain is very expensive to do for users. It also locks anyone out who does not have the financial means of interacting from the world.

If only there was a way to build a social community blockchain where devs could mint a new $LORE coin, where players could craft their stories to earn $LORE, fantasy readers could read the grand narrative and earn $LORE for upvoting and engaging, people could mint NFT items using $LORE and buy/sell them, etc. etc. etc. All actions within the community earning engagement tokens for purely interacting, and building the grand overall narrative that is Ethermore. If only.

Well, to the devs of Ethermore, this platform already exists on HIVE.

Art shamelessly stolen from @aggroed's amazing post on Tribes here.

Why HIVE Tribes is a perfect match for Ethermore.

For ease of blogging, I will call the Tribes native token for Ethermore $LORE, but it could be anything the community decides.

From the Ethermore site: Ethermore arrives as a drop of 15,000 NFTs, each a unique procedurally generated fantasy character on the Ethereum blockchain. Each character is a token of entry to the community and world of Ethermore. Heroes’ stories, quests and world-building events will evolve off-chain in community discussion, before returning on-chain as Ethermore lore as voted by the community in a DAO based RPG, where decisions have consequences in the world. It is a communal creative project to build a fantasy world on the Ethereum blockchain.

My first question is why the need to evolve the community off-chain? If a HIVE Tribe is created, Ethermore users could build the community and world from within the Tribe with engagement earning them tokens in the process. The value-add for the Ethermore community is an overall communal wealth-add in terms of users earning tokenized wealth. The draw of earning wealth through engagement brings users back. The wealth add for HIVE is more engagement within the ecosystem. The community could grow and evolve the story from within the Tribe itsself.

Once the story is decided it could be baked into Ethereum. But let us not forget that there is intrinsic wealth in user engagement. If Ethermore doesn't have a decentralized location for user created content, Tribes is basically a prebuilt way the community could be kickstarted on HIVE. I highly recommend the dev's of Ethermore read Aggroed's super concise write up of what Tribes are exactly and why you would want to use them here.

The decentralized nature of finance on HIVE makes for some very interesting use-cases for such a communal currency. With the ability to mint NFTs on HIVE, an inventory system could be developed and deployed, possibly tying Ethermore character IDs to HIVE accounts, and then tying HIVE NFTs to those accounts. Those HIVE accounts then become ownership of whoever owns the ETH NFT. I don't know the logistics exactly but I'm just spitballing here. Moving NFTs around is much much cheaper in HIVE in terms of gas prices. So player-character ownership on ETH, character-inventory ownership on HIVE.

Writers can write their own lore, players can own their own lore, readers and writers earning $LORE for engagement. The $LORE they earn could be staked, could be used to purchase equipment for their characters, could be used as a form of "storyline-governance" (careful here), or even be exchanged into another native HIVE currency, say $DEC, to buy Splinterlands cards. Or Splinterlands NFT Card players could exchange their $DEC tournament earnings into $LORE to buy their characters some new gear. (I swear I keep thinking web3.0 is gonna be nutz when it mainstreams.)

So what do Hivians think? Would Ethermore work well here, as a Tribe? I think it would.

As it is a DAO, a decentralized fantasy world in which I have a character residing, I am seeking more ways to both add community driven and engaging content as well as value, to both Ethermore and HIVE. Win for HIVE, win for Ethermore, win for me.

Please comment your thoughts! Share them with me, I would love to discuss this or any related ideas.
