When I asked my friends what digital economy is ?, they answered that digital economy is the activity of buying their favorite item on ecomerce, sending money to their relatives or friends in distant places, ordering fast food through online applications or ordering vehicle services online like uber which will take you comfortably to your destination. okay my friends have given very good answers and I agree that is digital economy looks like. but we also hope that knowing the true purpose of the digital economy is also more important. so that we can get involved and take advantage of the opportunities of this economic digitization. The digital economy is a new world economic system or order that is expected to be able to improve the previous economic system by increasing the benefits and opportunities for economic involvement for all people in the world. whether it is in the form of access to a larger market, capital, market information, technology, etc. which will be difficult for us to get if we don't have the capital and good connections like capitalists who often get more in conventional economies.

Digital economy offers more than conventional Economy image source: own created take a Look at the picture above, I think we all know for sure who the first person is, yes it is Jack Ma who is the owner of one of the largest ecommerce companies in the world today with a valuation of $ 185.42 billion in 2020 and this makes him one of the richest person in the world today. Well it is the figure that jack ma is commonly known today. but have you heard his story, decades before he and his friends started alibaba ?, yes he was just an ordinary private teacher with an income of $ 10 per month but when he became acquainted with the internet at that time, he then had dreams and ideas for introduce products made by the Chinese people to the world market. and now that dream has come true in the form of Alibaba where now we can access a bigger variety of world markets and products from various parts of the world and not just Chinese products actually. so we can imagine what if Jack Ma's plan was not helped by the digital economy system, of course that dream was just a dream. Jack Ma will not be able to get Chinese people to market their products overseas, even if it is only those who have large capital and good connections, while those who have small and medium enterprises will never be able to access the market directly. and The second person, i'm sure that you guys may don't know him unless you are Indonesian, his name is William Tanuwijaya he is the one who founded one of the largest ecommerce in Southeast Asia, Tokopedia with a valuation of $ 7.5 billion at the moment. Just like Jack Ma, William also has the same dream to provide market access to small entrepreneurs in Indonesia. As you know, the geographic conditions of an archipelago and compounded by the low interest of the people to become entrepreneurs due to lack of capital and access to more promising markets. however, since Tokopedia was present, this condition has begun to change, now there are many small and medium enterprises from various parts of Indonesia growing using Tokopedia as a base to access markets on other islands in Indonesia. And now Tokopedia has transformed into one of the largest ecommerce in Indonesia with 1.7 milllion sellers and has contributed 1.5% to Indonesia's gdp. image source : https://entrackr.com/2018/10/paytm-acquire-ucweb-india-business/ Vijay Shekhar Sharma is the creator of the Paytm payment application which is very well known in India, he made this app in 2014 and currently has reached 350 million users based on data in 2019.This innovation pioneered by Vijay Shekar Sharma has succeeded in making India one of the countries who have successfully implemented financial digitization today. with the second largest number of internet users in the world after China. and this application continues to develop until now and helps a lot of the people of India, especially traders, to accept digital payments. image source : https://www.geekwire.com/2018/inside-mind-duolingo-ceo-luis-von-ahn-700m-language-learning-startup-preps-ipo/ Have you ever used an online application, to learn English or certain other languages? i'm sure you would be familiar with the application made by the professor of the United States, Duolingo. yes.. this is an online application for learning foreign languages made by Luis Von Ahn in 2011. I personally used this application several years ago and it really helped me to get to know and learn foreign languages that I am interested in. The duolingo app currently has a valuation of $ 1.5 billion with more than 300 million users. and this achievement will not be obtained if Luis Van Ahn only relies on conventional business models such as opening foreign language learning courses in his country only. image source : https://www.thedrum.com/opinion/2020/02/27/why-grab-and-gojek-merger-could-disrupt-advertising-south-east-asia When it comes to ride-hailing applications or delivery of goods, i'm sure many of us are familiar with uber, but for those who come from Southeast Asia, of course the names of these two giant unicorns are more familiar. and since I my self also a Southeast Asian person then I will take the example of these two services, which I know better because I am also a user of these two applications. so that it is easier for me to describe how these two applications contribute in creating a very fast digital economy ecosystem in Southeast Asia. Gojek is an application made by Nadiem Makarim, in Indonesia in 2009, while the grab was made by Anthony Tan in Malaysia in 2012. These two applications have greatly helped the progress of the digital economy in Southeast Asia. especially in Indonesia which is the largest market and the main battleground for these two applications lol.... ,in Indonesia, these two application services have helped motorcycle taxi drivers in Indonesia to get more than the delivery of passengers and goods. these two applications also help the growth and development of small and medium culinary businesses in Indonesia to be more mobile and closely connected with their customers. They can place their various food and beverage products on the Gojek and Grab applications to access a wider market. Currently Gojek and Grab have status as Decacorn or have a valuation of more than $ 10 billion. both of these services continue to grow today and continue to create a digital economy ecosystem that involves many people to be involved and make a profit.

Conclusion The digital economy is a need and the answer for the inefficiency of the old economic model, where economic access was obtained by large investors and broad connections. as small entrepreneurs we cannot easily sell our products overseas without digital economy innovations such as Alibaba, Amazon, Tokopedia etc. or access services such as digital payments, goods delivery and other innovations that the digital economy can offer. as consumers, we also find it easier to get more selection of products or services with better quality and price. so in the digital economy innovation will continue to move forward to create equitable economic access for all people.

so guys could you tell me about the development of the digital economy in your country?.
