POB Token: Learning a new Hive Ecosystem
Strange things sometime happen in life. Today, I ran into a conversation with a guy named proofofbrainio, who is managing a project and a hive-engine token call POB (proof of brain). Seems to me like an interesting project so I went in and read a post 'white paper' for the project.
Seemed to me quite simple enough, and I really enjoy that is it built on hive. I quote from the whitepaper...
The design of POB token is inspired by Bitcoin, Hive, and LeoFinance.
I understand and applaud two of these tokens and I am vest interest in more Hive and Leo. Also of interest to me, is the fact that they mentioned that POB token inflation will be reduced by 50% every 4 years. I am glad the token issuers are thinking about inflation. However, in my personal opinion, 4 years in crypto is a very long time. I have seen many hive-engine token come and go. So maybe, a shorter duration for inflation reduction will be a good idea. Just putting it out there as a suggestion. As per the whitepaper post, the inflation is set to
10 tokens every 40 blocks which is 50 tokens approximately every 10 minutes
There is no pre-mine, and distribution seems reasonable in the beginning. So I head out to look to content..
Interface and Trending Page
The https://www.proofofbrain.io/trending page looked like a typical HE tribe token page. I checked some of the top trending pages, 200-300 POB at the top. I had no idea what they mean, as I can barely keep up with the price of Hive :)
So I headed over to Tribaldex...https://tribaldex.com/trade/POB
Oh boy! Nearly 2 hive, after I lit the fire under the market :)...hey, guys, don't get excited. Its a relatively thin market. Only 8607 as volume! So yeah, without a buyer like me, those 200-300 POB tokens have nowhere to go. Good. I am glad we sorted that out. For those who doesn't know me, I have traded various financial markets since I am 16. I am 45 now. If there is an item that can be digitally traded, likely, I have traded it :) Thin markets interests me a lot, because they are relatively easy to control.
Purpose
I talked to @proofofbrainio and offered my support for his project. I think it is a decent project. He mentioned that he does have some problem with spam contents and he is deligently managing them. Kudos to him for that! As for a hive-engine project, spam is a big issue. Since we don't have any market (rather small market of 4000 people), most the veterans and spammers know very well how to circle vote and manipulate a token to generally sell and get some money for writing 'content'. Its is known model, but it can handled. This is where, large stakeholders need to come in and show support for the project. I offered my helping hand to the project manager, and I will continue to support this project with governance requirements.
In addition I bought some POB tokens from the market, and immediately staked them. I offer to buy some more. It is better to do this kind of deal off the market, so if anyone holding POB tokens want out, or maybe sell a portion of their stake, you have a honest buyer here. Hope I push the market of POB higher for community benefit.
