Have you ever dreamed of travelling through time, to see the distant future? So here are some interesting facts about it.

Time travel is possible. It's already been done. Do you know the guy named Sergei Krikalev? His is the greatest time travel of history. He has a record of orbiting planet 803 days 9 hours and 39 minutes. He travelled to the future by 0.02s.

Of course, this is a very insignificant amount of time, but it would be much more apparent if the astronauts were able to travel closer to the speed of light.

Let me explain this in little more detail,

In the space shuttle, I’m travelling at roughly 28,000 km/hr relative to the Earth. If I make a few orbits around the Earth before I return when we compare watches. We’ll see that less time has passed for me. A very, very tiny amount of time, but is there nonetheless. This is called Time Dilation, and it simply means that according to Einstein’s Theory of Relativity.

##### “Time measured along different trajectories is affected by differences in either gravity or velocity - each of which affects the time in different ways.”*

Interestingly, the effects of time dilation are fairly minor even up to around 70% of the speed of light. However, once we reach 75% or so, the effects become dramatic.

The faster you go the greater the effect of time dilation

So, far in the distant future if you can travel really close to the speed of light, say 99.99999% on around trip through space for what seemed you like 10 years, you had actually returned to earth around the year 9000.

There will be greater things to watch. Maybe the extinction of the human race due to climate change or asteroid impact or inhabiting a permanent colony on Mars.

But there are also some sad truths about its practicality. It already takes a high amount of energy from large hardon collider to accelerate tiny subatomic particles.

So getting heavy things as people up to such speed requires an unimaginable amount of energy. As of now, it's a big league.

We can hope that in the future like in the movie interstellar you can see your daughter like this when you return from space
