Travel the World of Postage Stamps - Flowers of the Caucasus 1st Series - Polar Poppy (Papaver polare) - Soviet Union 1975 - Michel's USSR 4428 - my hobby.

Greetings friends!

There is a famous song by a rock band from the Soviet Union era, Aria "I am free!", so in my postage stamp publications, I am free to choose the direction and time.

Today, I decided to take one step back and look into 1976 on a frosty day on December 25th.

It was on this day that a series of stamps Flowers of the Caucasus 1st Series was issued.

In winter, I really want to see flowers, probably the editor who prepared this series for publication loved to read the fairy tale "12 months" to his children, in which the girl had to go at night to the winter forest in search of snowdrops.

I can breathe a sigh of relief on the first postage stamp in this series we will not see a plant from the buttercup family, as it was, or rather, it will be in 1976 in the second part of the series, only buttercups.

On a postage stamp with a face value of 4 kopecks of the USSR, we see a close relative of the poppy, but with yellow petals - Polar Poppy (Papaver polare).

You know, if you want to find out on Wikipedia where this plant grows, then you will not see a mention of the Caucasus there. It talks about Norway, Canada, Alaska and some northern islands, but not a single word that would direct you to the mountainous regions of the Caucasus.

If we talk about the practical benefits of postage stamps, then this postage stamp clearly complements the general information about this plant.

And, as you know, information costs money, even more than the face value of this postage stamp. lol.

It is more profitable to visit the Caucasus for the purpose of botanical research than those other countries, in the Caucasus, the cuisine is better and the prices are lower.

But, don't get carried away with food. you will need to rise in grief to see this flower.

Let's take a look at this postage stamp.
