Travel the World of Postage Stamps - Flowers of the Caucasus 2nd Series - Aquilegia olympica - Soviet Union 1976 - Michel's USSR 4548 - my hobby.

Greetings friends!

Today, we continue our botanical exploration of the mountainous regions of the Caucasus, guided by a series of postage stamps Flowers of the Caucasus 2nd Series, issued in the USSR in 1976.

In my collection there is no sweat stamp with a denomination of 3 kopecks of the USSR, which depicts the plant Gentiana angulosa and, therefore, we turn to a postage stamp with a denomination of 4 kopecks of the USSR and see a beautiful mountaineer called Aquilegia olympica.

Oddly enough, this beautiful plant is deprived of vimany and there is very little information about it, I only know that this plant belongs to the buttercup family and the Russian name, which is consonant with the word "water intake", I can assume that this plant can get water where it cannot be a priori.

Many climbers go to conquer the Caucasus mountains and, sometimes, it is very important to know the properties of the plants that grow in this region. It can save lives in the event of injury, poisoning, or if you go astray and get lost in the mountains without food. But, apparently, this flower cannot be regarded as something useful and salutary, since there is no such information.

In Soviet times, for 4 kopecks, like the face value of a postage stamp, you could ride a trolley bus, make two calls at a telephone booth, buy four boxes of matches, or drink a small glass of kvass, and you would be given 1 kopeck change.

Let's take a look at this postage stamp.
