Travel the World of Postage Stamps - Hungarian Goldsmiths' Art - Chalice of Benedek Suky - Hungary 1970 - Michel Hungary 2625A - my hobby.

Greetings friends!

Today, I propose to go to a country whose language of communication is one of the most difficult languages on our planet.

This country is Hungary.

We will see a series of postage stamps called - Hungarian Goldsmiths' Art.

1970 went down in the history of Hungarian philately, as well as every year when a new series of postage stamps was published.

This series is three years older than me, and at a time when I still could not think about philately as a hobby, people already admired these postage stamps.

The title of this series speaks for itself. We will see luxurious gold items that have come to us from time immemorial, these are the works of Hungarian masters.

In fact, these are dishes made of precious metal decorated with precious stones.

This is a story of luxury, greed and sacrifice.

Yes, I did not make a reservation, today, we will talk about a precious piece of a jeweler that was donated to the church.

On the first postage stamp of this series, which received a denomination of 40 Hungarian fillér, we see a precious cup dating from the year 1440 A.D.

This postage stamp is referred to as - Chalice of Benedek Suky.

The name of this postage stamp gives us insight into who the owner of this bowl was.

Benedict Sukki is believed to have ordered this bowl from a jeweler in the city of Cluj.

On the bowl you can see the image of Jesus Christ, saints and angels.

This cup was given as a gift to the Church to receive Holy Communion.

The excellent print quality of the postage stamp perfectly conveys the grandeur of the work of an unknown jeweler.

Let's take a look at this postage stamp.

For my publications, I do not use stock photographs, it is fundamentally important for me to use photographs that I have made with my own hands for publication and I can name them - authorial work.
