Mid Month Report - October 2020

My monthly progress reports serve a couple of purposes:

  • The first one, and primary reason for doing them, is that it allows me to see where I have been, where I am going, and where I am falling short in my personal goals.

  • The second purpose they serve is to let people, new accounts and old, see an honest representation of an account built from scratch and not really knowing anything at all about cryptocurrency.

  • The Mid Month report I try to focus more on the social aspect of Hive so a few of the Monthly Charts are not included.

Monthly Charts and Tables

Monthly Progress Report Table:

It has been a rather slow start to the month for me, I actually had one day where all HBD, Hive, and HP Vest were all zeros. That has happened in the past but is not a very common occurrence. A slow start, but at least not a full stop

Engagement

![Daily Comments](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/bashadow/pIgksGku-Daily20Comments.png) And there you can see the start of the day of no pay. October 3rd. ZERO comments. That equated to ZERO Hive, HBD, and HP Vest. So for all the new users, and the older less chatty users, commenting does payoff and help your account grow.

A very slow week comment wise for me, Second week started to see a little improvement, but then a slight slide. Hopefully I will continue on the upswing or at least get back to the 15 comment average range.

This small table shows very clearly that I may not make my year end goal. I really need to step up to the plate and start getting back to leaving comments on peoples post I like and vote, not so much just to reach my goal, but to let people know that yeah, someone did more than just vote, they read the post or looked at the art or the pictures.

Comments are an integral part of the social side of Hive Block Chain, and since I use Hive for my on-line social site, I need to step up. I asked to be tracked a long time ago, I think it was week 20 of Asher's league. I had been trying to develop a tracking system for my activity and account growth, his league was a no brainer for me. No work needed on my part and I would know each Sunday how I did comment wise.

For a long time I have tried to average at least ten comments a day. I tried awhile back to double up on comments and did manage that for a short stretch, so I thought I might be able to reach 20,000 comments by years end, it is not that easy.

My account growth has flattened out. One of the primary ways to increase your account growth is to become a daily poster. I have tried and actually succeeded 3 times in getting a daily post out every day of the week. This was back in the days of Steem and when I first joined and participated in a few seven day challenges.

I find it very difficult to post daily, but I am thinking of giving it a try with the Picture a Day community. I am not a blogger, just someone who likes to share on occasion. It may be because I don't look hard enough, but I haven't really seen any seven day challenges on Hive, if you know of one drop a comment, it might help me get more than one or two post a week out.

Conclusion and side notes

The Hard Fork Eclipse, (HF24), is done. It went into effect on Wednesday. There are a few glitches as some apps and api/nodes play catch up, so far it seems no real serious issues that have stopped the chain. By next Wednesday hopefully we will all forget that a HF took place and things will be back on an even keel.

If you are interested in tracking your comment progress and other metrics drop by and check out the Curation and Engagement League. It is pretty simple to join just ask to be tracked or join. That link will take you to last Sunday's post and you can see how it all works.

Looking for a place to get your feet wet on commenting with out repercussions for doing it wrong? (yes there is a right way and wrong way to commenting in the minds of some), try out @galenkp's Weekend-engagement post. This weekends post Weekend-engagement week 19: Pet pondering. Here you can practice and refine your commenting, or just have a place to have some commenting fun.
