How do you categorize if an account is active or not on the Hive blockchain?

I see many stats about the Hive blockchain and some of them include user activity and metrics related to them. I myself dive into getting stats and publishing them in different posts, but one thing I couldn't figure out is the right way how to categorize if an account is active or not on the Hive blockchain.

There are a lot of factors or parameters that can determine if an account is active on Hive. One way is to look at the frequency of a user's activity. For example, if an account is consistently posting content, commenting on posts, and upvoting other users' content, then it is likely that the account is active. That could be analyzed over a period of time, let's say in the past 30 days, but could spawn also over larger periods. What could be the right timeframe to determine the activeness of a user, I am still wondering. Conversely, if an account has not posted or engaged with other users for an extended period (whatever that is), then it may be considered inactive.

Another factor to consider when categorizing an account's activity level is the transactions at the level of the Hive blockchain that an account registered. Some users simply don't create posts or curate, might even not have any followers, but might have custom JSON transactions coming from different applications or games (like Splinterlands) from this ecosystem. This might prove the account is active in the sense that he is using the Hive blockchain one way or the other.

I am still asking myself what is the best formula to categorize an account as active or not and I think it would be great even to have a common understanding for all of us of what that might be. Agreeing on some parameters that could contribute to that would allow us to have a better view of the Hive blockchain growth and let us market that one way or the other. Analytics and stats on what's happening here can show the trend that we've embarked on, but also the weak points on which we still need to work upon. So if someone deciphered this or wants to share his or her formula when extracting status, that would help us all.
