In case you haven't heard the big news, validator nodes are now on sale in the first round of presale. As expected, there was something of a rush in the first couple of hours but that has largely slowed down now.

There are still 818 validator licenses on sale in this round and based on the current pace of sales, I think this will take quite a while to complete. I am going to be watching the numbers for the next couple of days and will see if any opportunity will present itself to buy a node.

There's only one validator license on the market right now and that is going for around $1600 worth of Hive, so obviously, its out of the question for now. However, this will be looking quite cheap when the first round of sales goes through.

I've never actually owned a node license before, so I can't really say for sure if it is worth it. However, most people I know who actually risked it and bought node licenses claim that it has largely been profitable.

GLX token staking already offers 164% APR, so I reckon validator nodes offers more. Also, unlike GLX staking, validator nodes don't have a time-based period when staking rewards will come to an end.

Stake it till you make it

I don't have spare funds laying around that I could put into buying validator nodes, so outrightly buying one is out of the question. My only hope to buy one is by redirecting my staking rewards from GLX into buying a node but that will take quite a while.

My hope, for now, at least, is that there will be a pump that will give my GLX a bit more value and kick towards buying a license. Assuming that opportunity presents itself, I'll definitely be taking a plunge.

Alternatively, one could go through a cheaper route by purchasing an SPS validator node for $985 off hive-engine and then wait for the airdrop. Although, now that I think about it, I wonder if nodes bought from secondary exchanges will count towards the GLS airdrop that comes at the end of the first round of presale.

The other downside of buying SPS validator is that you'll have to wait until the end of the first round of presale before the GLS validator is airdropped to you. There's still a bit that hasn't been mentioned about this airdrop route, so watch this space for more info.
