Media speculators have deduced that according to a job listing, the software giant behind the production of iPhones and MacBooks are considering an "alternative payment solution". The deduction was based on the job's role.

According to a deduction made by CNBC, the role will include screening potential partners, negotiating and signing deals, and launching new programs and features for Apple’s Wallets, Payments, and Commerce team. It will also work with Apple Pay teams.

As explained by the listing, the role will require an individual with technical knowledge about advanced payment solutions and brokerage. The job description stated that;

“Lead the partnership program with key players in the Alternative Payments ecosystem, covering the complete process of partner identification, business case development and socialization, partnership negotiation, contract signing and execution, go to market launch and continued partnership value growth,”

The job listing further explains that the Business development manager role opening that was published on the 25th of May will require someone that is;

"comfortable with ambiguity, enjoys thinking about edge cases and asking “what is an alternative way of doing this”, and is a strong verbal and written communicator with a high level of integrity, energy, and sense of urgency to “make things happen”.

For what it's worth, Apple didn't outrightly state cryptocurrencies in the listing, but it is fair to speculate based on these requirements. I mean, what are the "alternative" payment solutions out there?

Apple already employs apple pay, and traditional payments with a debit/credit card, so I don't see anything else coming into the mix outside of cryptocurrency.

It is also worth speculating when you consider the fact that many other institutions have been loading up on Bitcoin and alts in recent times. Last week it was reported that some unnamed institutions have been purchasing Bitcoin in the droves based on OTC trade data. Could Apple have been one of the beneficiaries of the dip?

On the surface, it is safe to say that in the near future, Apple will be incorporating some cryptocurrencies to their books. Naturally, bitcoin will be the first port of call but will that be good enough for small payments?

The job role required someone that's willing to think outside the box and in the cryptosphere, which could mean many things. SO what will it be? A stable coin? XRP? Or maybe Apple create their own token? The possibilities are limitless, so all we can do is watch and wait.
