Is Rabona worth the stress?

Rabona came into the scene some months ago and made the right noises around the blockchain. The game is a strategy game but just like everything in life, life is easier for people with fatter wallets. In my opinion, that's only fair and while money helps, it can only get you so far in the very competitive top leagues.

My team is currently dominating the second division. An overall team strength of 57 means I'm pretty badass for this level but whenever I get promoted to the next level, I seem to always fall short.

Management

For what it's worth, I'm a bit proud of myself for being able to put this team together. The team is filled with just above average players that I either got for cheap or rolled the dice through scouting.

I focussed most of my time on the administrative part of the team, so I have made a lot of development in the stadium. From almost zero attendance at the start, I've grown the fan base to a total of 549,465 and increasing. Here's a breakdown of the fanbase so far

  • Regional: 88,825
  • National: 110,576
  • International: 350,064
  • Total: 549,465 Due to this increase, there has also been more revenue coming through per game. In the past, I struggled to balance the sheet due to having overly expensive players, particularly with salary. So my main focus was trimming the wage bill of the team and making sure that at the end of every match day, I was in the green.

Endorsements

Endorsements have also increased revenue for the team. We currently enjoy one deal with an advertising partner that combines with matchday earnings to accrue 307,071 per season. It isn't earth-shattering but it is better than being on the negative side of the earning spectrum.

On the pitch

The situation on the pitch has been a tad bit polarising. My team seems like gods on the field whenever I am in the lower division but turn into the whipping boys at the higher league.

I was hoping that I would get a few more seasons to build my team but it seems like I'm yet again, on my way to another adventure in the top league.

My overall record in matches doesn't seem so bad or good for that matter. I am just about average and this is mostly due to my unsuccessful campaigns into the top level.

All matches:
  • Played: 409
  • Won: 222
  • Lost: 119
  • Draw: 68

Like I said, not bad but not good either. There's a lot of improvement I could make in my team but at the same time, I just have to be grateful that I was at least able to compete favourably in this league.

Show me the money

The game hasn't experienced any major changes since it started. Although there have been some additional features, particularly in the Stadium tab for development of different aspects of your team.

The designers also added an internal market for people with Hive that want to switch to RBN for in-game functionality. I haven't ever used the internal market, and I doubt I will ever. I relish the challenge of managing something to the top league, and I'm totally down for that fairytale story.

Generally speaking, I have also earned a lot more than I have spent in the game so far. The seasonal rewards payout at the end of every season and it averages around 2.5 hive range.

At the end of the day, I think the game is worth the stress. If you throw in a little bit more time and resources to handle the mundaneness of the game, I reckon we're up for something astronomical.
