Who doesn't love a good story? I know I do. My story starts on the 17th of December 2017. I was a Youth Corp member serving in Jos, writing an introductory post that was the first of many posts on Hive blockchain.

Back then, my bro and his friend @bhoa had been dabbling a bit with cryptocurrencies. They told me about this platform where you can write articles and earn from them.

The idea of blogging to earn was incredible due to my history. With a heart full of hope and passion for writing, I started my journey that has led me down an incredible path.

1. How long have you been on the blockchain?

Well, hive did start last year, so I've been on Hive since the very beginning. However, if you want to be more technical about it, I've been with the Hive community since the days of Steem.

My journey technically started on the 17th of December 2017. On this day, I wrote my first post and began this journey that has become my source of income

2. What was your background in cryptocurrency when you first came to the Blockchain?

I honestly had zero knowledge of cryptocurrencies when I started this journey. I had heard a little bit about cryptocurrencies in TV shows and stuff but hadn't actually invested.

As time wen on, I started exploring cryptocurrencies and tested out exchanges. The first exchange I ever used was Binance, then Bittrex later on. Right now, I have a firm understanding bout Central and decentralised exchanges, as well as how crypto trading works.

3. What was your background in writing when you first came to the Blockchain?

Prior to joining Hive, I had been writing for quite a while. Somewhere in my mind, I always felt like I'd be able monetise writing.

I had a blog where I wrote my feelings and another one where I blogged about football. I included some affiliate market links to my sites but didn't even earn a single cent until I joined Hive.

4. How many people did you know when you first came to the Blockchain?

I knew my brother because he's the one that introduced me to the platform. I also knew @bhoa because he's the one that gave me my first taste of crypto earnings into my bank account.

Later on, I met a lot of other interesting people like @steemmatt @trumpman @lordbutterfly @amirtheawesome1, and the entire Comedy open mic crew.

I have to take a moment to appreciate the Comedy open mic crew for giving me the opportunity to monetise my funny side. I had so much fun writing comedy and getting paid for it.

5. How did you meet people when you first came to the Blockchain?

I met people through engaging their posts basically. I also met people on Discord and Twitter as well.

It was a new experience for me back then, especially because back then, we didn't even have notifications on the blockchain. You literally had to refresh replies and everything regularly to see if anything new has happened.

It was a really stressful time but it was still worth every minute. There was an adrenaline rush when you get replies and votes. Things were a lot different than they are now.

6. Who did you look up to when you first came to the Blockchain?

It's hard to say because there were so many awesome people around. I always looked up to @acidyo and loved that he was an Arsenal fan.

I also liked @trumpman and his regular publications about things in nature that remind him of a penis. Back then, he used to write Stem articles about animals and stuff like that.

There are so many names to mention on this list, I could actually name virtually everyone around the community these days. I looked up to many of you and appreciate all you do.

7. How would you describe your first three months on the Blockchain?

My first three months were a mix of fun and stress. I liked the idea of publishing content to earn but I also hated the fact that I had to bring up ideas on what to publish.

I wasn't as consistent as I am today but as time went on, I developed consistency. However, even back then, I always suspected that things will get better in the long run.

8. Has being a part of the Blockchain changed you in any way for the good?

Being on hive has enabled me to improve my consistency and has also taught me patience.

Being on Hive has taught me how to build slowly and steadily while planning long-term. being on Hive has introduced me to the world of cryptocurrencies and helped me diversify.

As a person, being on hive has improved my relationship with people and enabled me to interact with a variety of people from around the world. I feel I'm a better communicator and a better human being as a whole.

9. What is your favorite memory from your time on the Blockchain?

This is a tough one because I've had so many good ones. I've been fortunate to earn large upvotes from some amazing whales, minnows, orcas, and dolphins. I've had the pleasure of participating in a town hall meeting during the Justin Sun takeover attempt back then.

I've had the pleasure of talking/texting with amazing community members like @theycallmedan, @taskmaster, @nathanmars, @acidyo, @lordbutterfly, @trumpman, and so many other amazing people.

However, I think my favourite memory of this community is a very recent one. Recently, my likeness was used as one of the NFTs in the Hive folks collection on Dlux and I must say, that is one of the best things that's happened to me in my life.

It was so awesome to be among that incredible and quite humbling to be in the midst of so many awesome community members. That's probably the most memorable thing to have happened to me around here.

10. If you could advise a new person signing up to Hive, what would it be?

I'd say, have fun, avoid @trumpman's penis and be consistent.

Seriously though, keep an open mind, always make friends, feel free to ask questions, and don't feel sad when things don't go your way. Sometimes you get upvotes and other times you don't.

You will meet people that disagree with you and sometimes even question your integrity but it's up to you to prove them wrong. You just have to focus on yourself, keep your head up and always try to be the best version of yourself.
