Splinterlands Investment Strategy

Splinterlands is one of the most popular crypto games and with it of course comes an investment strategy. While playing the game is lucrative the start up costs can be a bit high but any investment is really isn't it?

Let's start this article off with the good old disclaimer.

This article is of my own opinion and speculation. It is not finical advise and is for entertainment purposes only. Do your own research before investing into anything and take responsibility for your own actions!

Alright now with that out of the way let's get into it!

There are a few things we know and today was one of those such updates. We can use this information to start planning and building a possible good investment into the game even at these higher levels.

We know the following

  • Chaos packs should be coming in the next 2 - 6 weeks however that's pure speculation
  • You will need to have SPS staked in order to take part in being one of the first to buy packs
  • Current packs of untamed and Dice are selling for $40-$50 each while Beta are selling for $70 and Alpha $100+
  • New reward cards just dropped

What that tells me is the following.

  • We need a lot of SPS staked so we can pick up as many packs as possible, this will most likely drive up the price of SPS as more and more use cases start coming to it.
  • There most likely will be a very high demand and fast sell out of chaos packs.

Possible

  • There could possibly be an air drop of new cards for those that buy and open packs much like what we saw from Untamed and Dice packs

  • Packs might be limited to the amount of SPS you have for example 5,000 SPS staked is 10 packs max. *Total speculation on this one

  • $2 per pack as those were the prices before.

The one thing that worries me is that people will buy up all of the packs for $2 and resell them on markets for $30+ while that's great for the investor it could potentially have a very negative effect on the game and only allow in for high investors to get into the game. That's kind of where the fun of the game diminishes and turns into just a speculation investment hype thing.

We see this on a lot of games anymore including wax where people will buy up all of the packs in just a few hours and resell them on market for crazy high prices. Now don't get me wrong if there is a large enough demand and people are willing to pay those levels it could end up being one huge massive spike in prices for everything across the board for Splinterlands and true it into the next Axie.

There are also a lot of upcoming parts to this and things to take into account. Splinterlands system is actually very complex when you start diving into it.

The two biggest factors one is existing and one is coming soon are as follows.

The first is the SPS airdrop. By opening these packs you'll be increasing the value of your account and heck you might even get luck and lock up some seriously awesome legendary cards that go for thousands. By having a higher account it means you'll increase your stake in the SPS air drop over the next 300 or so days.

The other thing to factor in is lands and how you'll need monsters and summoners in order to tend to the lands and produce the rewards from it. This could be another form of passivish income from the game but it's unclear yet as to what they will produce and the value that comes of them.
