The bear market is the current reality
We all realize it: currently it is no fun to look into your securities account or your own wallet. Prices have been falling for months. Many individual stocks, especially from the tech sector, it has totally disintegrated (eg Netflix, Paypal, Block). Even the indices like the Nasdaq are deep red. The background is primarily the high inflation as well as the incipient interest rate turnaround in the United States. In Europe, too, there are signs that the central bank is turning away from cheap money. At the same time, economic development is weakening. Supply chains remain disrupted and companies are reporting weaker growth in many cases.
The crypto market has also been dragged down hard. BTC is trading more than -50% off the ATH, many altcoins have been hit even harder. For example, Solana, Polkadot or Cardano have plummeted more than -70%. Crypto coins are seen by many investors as high risk assets and sold off similarly to tech companies due to the uncertainties described above. This was compounded by the crash in Terra Luna. The fact that a stable coin in which billions of dollars were parked suddenly lost its peg to the dollar squandered a lot of trust. This led to further distortions in the market. At times panic was palpable and we are still on thin ice if you look at the Fear & Greed Index. It is at one of the lowest levels ever, expressing extreme fear.
Now is the time to do the homework
So what to do now? Should we bury our heads in the sand now because of the lousy situation? Is now time to sell everything if you haven't already anyway? Will BTC eventually fall to $0 now after all? Will this take the whole crypto market down with it, as some crash prophets have predicted many times before? Will companies like Starbucks, Disney, Paypal or Netflix never do good business again and crumble into rubble? I say watch out! It is precisely in such market phases that one should think and act anticyclically. The market will certainly recover, and the uncertainties will eventually dissipate. Then, as it was always the case in the past, the markets will go up again. Below you see the picture of you Zoom out from days to decades:
So now is the time to sit down and do your homework. Where are there already interesting discounts on strong companies or promising crypto projects today? Where is the sell-off overdone? Who has robust business models with still good cash flows, who pays stable dividends? Which blockchains or second layer projects are working on solving real problems and making progress? Who is able to strike exciting collaborations with companies? Which Web3 communities are still active and vibrant?
I think you know what I mean. Take a look around and make a plan. If you want to grow your long-term investments, now is the time to open your eyes, make a plan and get started. What do I want to buy and when?
Of course, the markets could go even lower, but then you could buy again at a lower price. Who knows when it will turn? Two years ago during the first worldwide Corona wave, everything suddenly went up again very quickly and dynamically. Few had expected that. Therefore, a gradual re-buying into the downward movement is a strategy that seems very sensible to me.
What I am doing
In fact, I have already picked up a few coins myself in the crypto area. With BTC and ETH, for example, I have begun to realize the first purchases. I will probably also add to Hive. In the stocks sector, especially in tech I have not yet become active, but slowly we are getting into exciting areas. Many tech companies were very sporty, sometimes even astronomically valued and are only slowly coming back to levels worth buying. Tesla, Apple and Microsoft are on my watch list.

Der Bärenmarkt ist die derzeitige Realität
Wir alle merken es: Derzeit ist es kein Spaß in sein Depot oder die eigene Wallet zu schauen. Die Kurse fallen seit Monaten. Viele Einzelaktien, vor allem aus dem Tech Bereich, hat es total zerlegt (zB. Netflix, Paypal, Block). Selbst die Indizes wie der Nasdaq sind tiefrot. Hintergrund sind vor allem die hohe Inflation sowie die anlaufende Zinswende in den USA. Auch in Europa deutet sich ein Umschwenken der Notenbank weg vom billigen Geld an. Gleichzeitig ist die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung am schwächeln. Die Lieferketten sind nach wie vor gestört und die Unternehmen melden vielfach schwächeres Wachstum.
Auch der Krypto-Markt wurde hart nach unten gerissen. BTC notiert mehr als -50% vom ATH, viele Altcoins hat es noch härter getroffen. Zum Beispiel Solana, Polkadot oder Cardano sind mehr als -70% eingebrochen. Krypto Coins werden von vielen Investoren als High Risk Assets angesehen und aufgrund der geschilderten Unsicherheiten ähnlich abverkauft wie Tech Unternehmen. Dazu kam der Crash bei Terra Luna. Dass ein Stable Coin in dem Milliarden Dollar geparkt waren plötzlich die Bindung zum Dollar verliert, hat viel Vertrauen verspielt. Das hat zu weiteren Verwerfungen im Markt geführt. Zeitweise war Panik spürbar und wir sind immer noch auf dünnem Eis, wenn man sich den Fear & Greed Index anschaut. Er befindet sich auf einem der tiefsten Stände aller Zeiten, was extreme Angst ausdrückt.
Jetzt ist es Zeit die Hausaufgaben zu machen
Was ist also jetzt also zu tun? Sollen wir jetzt wegen der miesen Lage den Kopf in den Sand stecken? Ist jetzt Zeit alles zu verkaufen, wenn man es nicht eh schon gemacht hat? Wird BTC jetzt schließlich doch auf 0$ fallen? Wird das den ganzen Krypto Markt mit sich reißen, wie es von manchen Crash Propheten schon öfters vorhergesagt wurde? Werden Unternehmen wie Starbucks, Disney, Paypal oder Netflix nie wieder gute Geschäfte machen und in Schutt und Asche zerfallen? Ich sage Aufpassen! Gerade in solchen Marktphasen sollte man antizyklisch denken und handeln. Der Markt wird sich sicherlich wieder erholen, die Unsicherheiten werden sich irgendwann wieder auflösen. Dann wird es, wie es in der Vergangenheit immer der Fall war wieder aufwärts gehen an den Märkten.
Jetzt ist es an der Zeit sich hinzusetzen und seine Hausaufgaben zu machen. Wo gibt es heute schon interessante Rabatte auf starke Unternehmen oder vielversprechende Krypto Projekte? Wo ist der Abverkauf übertrieben? Wer hat robuste Geschäftsmodelle mit nach wie vor guten Cashflows, wer zahlt stabile Dividenden? Welche Blockchains oder Second Layer Projekte arbeiten an der Lösung echter Probleme und kommen voran? Wer kann spannende Kooperationen mit Unternehmen abschließen? Welche Web3 Communities sind nach wie vor aktiv und lebendig?
Ich glaube ihr wisst was ich meine. Schaut euch um und macht einen Plan. Wenn ihr eure langfristigen Investitionen ausbauen wollt, ist jetzt die Zeit die Augen aufzumachen, einen Plan zu erstellen und loszulegen. Was will ich wann nachkaufen?
Natürlich kann es auch noch weiter runter gehen an den Märkten aber dann könnte man nochmal günstiger nachkaufen. Wer weiß schon wann es dreht? Vor zwei Jahren während der ersten weltweiten Corona Welle ging auch alles plötzlich ganz schnell und dynamisch wieder hoch. Die Wenigsten hatten damit gerechnet. Deshalb ist ein schrittweises Nachkaufen in die Abwärtsbewegung hinein eine Strategie die mir sehr sinnvoll erscheint.
Was ich mache
Tatsächlich habe ich selber im Krypto Bereich schon ein paar Coins aufgesammelt. Bei BTC und ETH zB. habe ich begonnen erste Käufe zu realisieren. Hive werde ich voraussichtlich auch nachlegen. Im Aktienbereich, gerade bei Tech bin ich noch nicht großartig tätig geworden aber so langsam kommen wir auch da in spannende Bereiche. Viele Tech Unternehmen waren sehr sportlich, teilweise auch astronomisch bewertet und kommen erst langsam auf kaufenswerte Niveaus zurück. Hier stehen Tesla, Apple oder auch Microsoft auf meiner Watchlist.
