I'd like to shout out @ericvancewalton for tagging me in his post about this. Take the time to read his if you get the chance. Also, thanks to @livinguktaiwan for starting this.

I am going to cheat a little and assume that I wrote my letter in the Summer of 2019, because quite honestly, our disaster that was 2019 started in October.

My letter to me in 2019:

Dear me,

First things first, stop putting it off and buy a generator. Better yet, pony up and pay the money to have that backup sump pump installed.

If you wake up in the middle of the night in October and you think you should go down and check the sump, follow that instinct. Don't just ignore it, roll over, and go back to sleep!

Trust me, it is going to save you a lot of heartache.

2020 is going to be a heck of a ride, buckle in, it is definitely going to be interesting.

Take some time in January and February to spend some extra time with your parents. In addition to that, make the three hour drive out to visit @mrsbozz's grandma a couple of times. She will be fine, but you won't get to see her for the rest of the year.

That big trip to the far reaches of the UP (Upper Peninsula) that you are planning... Make it longer than you think it needs to be. It will probably be one of the highlights of the year for you, so why not make it last as long as possible.

Come March, pick up as much BTC as you can. This is where things really start to get crazy. No need to worry about whether your job will be around, despite the coming pandemic, kids still need to get educated. You are one of the lucky few who will still be able to work.

In addition to that BTC that you are picking up, create about five ETH accounts and play around with this new tool called Uniswap. Don't go crazy, one swap on each account will probably be enough. Maybe use it to pick up some Thorcoin (RUNE) or something like that.

I'd tell you to stock up on toilet paper, but you actually make out pretty well on that and don't have any issues. Hand Sanitizer and disinfecting wipes might be a good idea...

Also, have that tree in the back yard looked at. I noticed one of the branches seemed a little iffy. Might be a good idea to have it taken care of before it does something bad like fall on your new deck.

It probably won't make a difference, but see what you can do about having someone look into the stability of the dams on Wixom and Sanford lakes. It feels like one big storm could maybe cause some issues there.

I'd also encourage you to start digging into the idea of empathy. It's going to be really important this year. I know you think white privilege isn't real but maybe reconsider that. I mean really ruminate on it for a while. Practice that empathy I mentioned and be ready to have some pretty real conversations with some of your friends.

Make sure you have about $4000 in your savings account. You are going to need it when a pipe breaks under your driveway. Don't be afraid to call Mike. It takes him a little bit, but he gets it fixed right for you.

Are you still unsure about that Uniswap thing? Trust me, it works out. Take the money you make from that and pick up some more BTC. December gets pretty exciting.

Oh yeah, by the way. At the end of March when you get asked to help your wife's aunt move, steer clear of the trailer. Trust me, it will save you from weekly trips to the wound clinic for about three months.

Enjoy your camping trip to the Keweenaw Peninsula, take the mine tour, get a pasty. Like I said, it is one of the best parts of the year!

Don't stress about the election. It all works out. I think anyway. It doesn't go the way you hope, but if you believe in Mayor Pete, go ahead and still vote for him in the primary.

Oh yeah, I know you have been trying to hit that 20k Steem power goal, but don't stress over it. Some things are going to happen that will end up being much better. In fact, think about moving your Steem into that new Leo project that you have been reading about. I think it will work out pretty well for you.

Most importantly: take it easy, be smart, keep an open mind, and don't sweat the small stuff. It really isn't worth it in the grand scheme of things.

PS: Buy that surge protector for your trailer that you have been putting of spending the money on. It saves your butt during one of your fall camping trips.
