About a week ago, the @lbi-gov account posted this post about the team that they are hoping to assemble for the @lbi-token project. If you don't know about the project it is a great long term investment opportunity on the Leo platform. It has a lot of the same people involved that started SPInvest which has been proven to be a success.

Anyway, over the past week I have spent a fair amount of time trying to decide if I want to throw my hat in the ring to be on the team. With my current work schedule and the work I am doing on the side for EOS Detroit, I am already spread pretty thin. Within the next couple of months students will be starting State Standardized Testing which relies heavily on technology, so my time at work is mostly going to be consumed with that.

My biggest fear is that I would join this project and not be able to give 100% thus letting down the taem in some way. For me that would be a bigger failure than not even trying.

On the flip side, I see this as a way to contribute back to a project that I am really excited about. It would allow me the opportunity to step outside of my comfort zone a little bit and hopefully grow my knowledge of blockchain, writing, and finance in general.

I guess I am jumping the gun here. Even if I am interested in joining the team, I still need to be voted in by the governance model that the project has in place. There is nothing saying that people wouldn't see the candidates and be "oh, that guy, yep, no thanks".

So I am torn

The team has given some rough ideas of what the position would entail in that post I linked above, but I am still a little fuzz as to what all is expected and required from the position. Part of me feels like this would be the perfect time to join because it is a learning experience for all of us. I am not saying the bar is set low, I am just saying I feel like there is less chance I could screw something up.

The sad thing is, I am running out of time, so if I want to do this I need to quit vacillating and get my poop in a group (as my wife would say).

I've always been a fan of spreadsheets and lists, so lets break this down:

Pros:

  • I get to have a small part in a great project that I think has a lot of potential
  • I think there is a tiny "salary" involved
  • Prestige? In the community or at the very least just getting my name out there

Cons:

  • The time expectations might be more than I can handle

  • What if my knowledge or skills are not good enough?

  • What if I don't get the votes?

Still torn...
