Likely many people were/are introduced to the idea of NFT's via games. In fact, many people will get their first experience with blockchain in general thanks to NFT games. Over the past several months we have seen a huge explosion in games like @splinterlands, @risingstargame, @exode, @d-city, and many others. Those are just the ones on the Hive blockchain, let's not forget about all the awesome games in the works over on Wax.

Likewise, NFT's have become very popular over on the ETH side of things for a handful of games, but most notably for a lot of the original artwork that is selling over there.

In just the past couple of months, we have also seen NFT's crossover into the music space. To be fair, @risingstargame probably had a lock on the NFT/music connection well before anyone else, but I am talking about actual mainstream music now.

We have seen bands like Daft Punk have their own NFT offering as well as Dead Mau and a handful of others.

I read just the other day that Steve Aoki is now getting ready to do an NFT release. While all of this is very interesting, I think the news I just heard from the band Kings of Leon is the most exciting so far.

I will be referencing this article in case you want to do your own research and investigate things further. To be honest, I am not a huge fan of Kings of Leon. I know they have a ton of songs in their catalog, but "Use Somebody" was so overplayed when it came out that it kind of soured my thoughts of ever giving them much of a chance. I should definitely fix that. Don't be surprised if you see a #weeklyspins post highlighting the band in the near future!

My opinion of the bad isn't important though. What is important is the fact that these won't just be pieces of digital art that you can hold. These NFT's will also offer special perks like exclusive downloads, backstage passes, and things like that apparently.

I think it is just a matter of time before we see more and more bands doing things like this as music continues it's journey into the digital age. Hopefully music NFT's don't have to go through all of the growing pains that mp3's had to in their infancy.

While I don't personally consider Kings of Leon a major act these days, can you imagine if someone like Taylor Swift or BTS started doing something like this? Heck if Nicki Minaj was selling NFT packs, I'd buy those in a heartbeat.

I think there would even be a draw for some of those acts that have been around forever but still have a huge following. It could be a way of introducing your music to a whole new generation of listeners.

This Kings of Leon definitely includes a lot of firsts for NFT's in the music space, but I have a feeling we will see more and more of this sort of thing as we move into the future.

It could become an all out "arms race" between bands finding new and innovative ways to implement NFT's into their marketing plan and ultimately into the hands of their fans.
