No Agenda is LIT by Podping on Hive
One of the biggest podcasts in the world, the @no-agenda show just used Hive and the system built on Hive called @podping to send out a Live notification.
This notification takes the form of a custom_json on Hive and looks like this ->
Once that goes out two different, completely independent Podcast playing apps pick up that notification and then send alerts to all their users who subscribe to No Agenda.
There are more than a million listeners to No Agenda: most of them listen as a podcast at some point after it is finished recording and when it is published, that's the traditional podcast world.
But increasingly, and thanks to years of YouTube favoring live content, people want to listen live.
Up to now there is NO Open Source, OPEN access, Uncensorable cross-application notification system.
@podping on HIVE is that notification system.
When you click on the notification you get taken straight into the podcast player and given a play button to listen live. This will work for video too.... @vimm should be getting in on this. @threespeak already use @podping to notify of all new videos on their platform, but live is a whole new feature.
Two web players right now are showing this episode as streaming Live and both of them know to do this because they're watching Hive.

The little Live indicator is something that the world of open, RSS based Podcasting has NEVER SEEN BEFORE! And Hive makes this work.
