Almost done with this even year 2020, and we have some things that we need to do to salute the new year, I finished work till the new year. I have done some of the groceries for tomorrow and we will be celebrating the old, not so good year, and the new one with @missmau and @s3rg3 and the kids. A quarantine New Year’s Eve,that’s a first and hopefully a last.

I will power up ofcourse, i never missed a power up blog and moment so why stop now. I want to reach all of you to do the same.
This is the blog with all the specifics. This I copied form the blog for those than need the information.

There have been some cool things happening here on Hive over the course of the past eight months, like the merging of #hivepud with the Spanish #hpud initiative, as well as some AMAZING new badges for Power Up Day courtesy of the @hivebuzz team, as well as more people contributing prizes to the power up day pool. I know this year will bring even more fun to this initiative, which has been going since May 1st 2019 (with thanks to @jamerussell for his post last month that included a mini PUD timeline, which is where I got that link).

What is HivePUD, beside a great initiative by a great steemer/hiver @streetstyle and moving into the next year while he is absent and away from the keyboard. Hive Power Up Day has been taking place on the first day of every month since it's inception on that other blockchain back in early 2019. Essentially the task is that on the first day of the month.

  • anyone who is able to, powers up some Hive on the first of the month.
  • accounts that are powering down, pause during the 24 hour span of the first of the month.
  • anyone who is trading/selling Hive, pause those transactions during the 24 hour span of the first of the month (and possibly even cancel any type of sell order on any exchanges during that time as well).

But why do you have to Power Up your Hive? When you power up your liquid Hive, it gives you a number of benefits, and the possibilities to earn delegations and prizes on the platform. It will give you stronger votes on content and earning more curation rewards. Also if you upvote content, you will earn curation rewards so the more Hive Power you have, the more you can potentially earn back. That is why i am always investing in my own account.

Earning "interest" by holding Hive Power - maybe you didn't know this but you will also earn HIVE passively at about 3% per year of what you currently have powered up so the more HIVE you have, the more you can earn from just holding,

so always HODHL hold on for dear hive life !

Earn by delegating - delegating is effectively "loaning" out your HIVE Power to others and some accounts may offer you a daily payment for doing so. If you have more to delegate, you can earn more by delegating which helps grow your balance even more, but thats very personal.

ALSO READ THIS ABOUT RECEIVING THE BEES ON PUD DAY

WHICH BRINGS ME TO : Helping others to power up Did you know that you can give the PUD badge to your friends or other users who do not have enough HIVE to power-up?

This is possible by directly powering-up your HIVE to another account, without first transferring them to its wallet, so you can be reassured these HIVE won't be used for another purpose.

This is really easy to do:

With hive.blog With peakd.com With Keychain Your friend's account will find its wallet with more HP and he/she will get the Hive Power Up badge. Cool gift, isn't it?

Get rewarded for the help you provided! By helping others to power up, you are showing everyone how mutual support is an important concept within the Hive community!

Therefore, we have created a new badge that will be awarded to all helpers on Hive Power Up Day.

To get the badge, the helper (you, the one doing the HIVE power-up) and the helpee (the one receiving Hive Power) must both follow these rules:

  • The helper must have more HP (Hive Power) than the helpee, i.e. you must help a less powerful account.
  • The helper must power-up at least 10 HIVE to the helpee during the Hive Power Up Day
  • The helper cannot be powered-up by another account
  • The helpee cannot power-up to another account
  • The helpee must NOT have been previously powered-up by another account, i.e. it must be the first time it receives a power-up from someone else.

The above rules are summarized in the following graphic:

Yes, that's a bunch of rules to follow. But we want to make this badge valuable for those who manage to get it, our goal being to promote real help and avoid abuse or power-up circle-jerking.

How to know if an account is eligible as a helpee? The fifth rule above is a bit tricky. How to know if someone has not already benefited from a power-up from another user?

To help you, we've updated the HiveBuzz website to display a small tag on the users' level badge if they do so:

If the tag appears, it means that "the account has already received a power-up in the past. Powering up to it won't grant you a Power Up Helper badge".

It doesn't mean that you can't power-up this account and thus grants it a PUD badge. It means that you will not receive the Power Up Helper badge by doing so. It's up to you to power up a second eligible account and receive your Power Up Helper badge.

This tag will only appear for the duration of Power Up Day and is updated in real-time, so better to check your helpee board before powering it up.

Why should I help others to power-up? On top of being friendly and supportive with your fellow Hivers, this is a good way to ensure that as many users as possible become more involved in the life and governance of the Hive blockchain.

That being said, we have prepared other incentives for the next edition of the Power Up Day. Having a Power Up Helper badge under your belt could well represent a significant advantage for you in the future. Don't overlook it!

And if you made it this far I will reward the first redfish that needs 10 hive to get his or hers bee. You must screenshot your wallet and leave it in my comments and before 16.00 hours CET , because I need to know before I go and celebrate our family New Year’s Eve.

Gracias y Feliz ano Nuevo
