We live in times where information is abundant. Probably the most informed generation ever, with almost all the world's knowledge at our fingertips, but with information flowing freely we have to deal with new issues. On one hand, I'd argue that Universities are going to become mostly irrelevant in our time, as new, less rigid, more efficient ways to learn and to obtain skills emerges. However, information flow also allows stupid ideas to grow in popularity at a staggering rate, just look at the conspiracy theorists on the internet that in some cases even manage to mobilize groups of people in real life. I see one problem as being particularly alarming which is the ability to critically asses the information. Think about it, many of us have our favourite economists/market strategists/fund managers/traders which we follow and ask for advice. And being able to get the info from someone who you consider a lot more knowledgable than yourself actually makes you lazy, in many cases we just don't need to assess ourselves as some guru supposedly has already done that for us. I see this as a very big problem that is prevalent in society nowadays. There must be a reason why smart people keep repeating DYOR or Do your own research. Don't be lazy and think for yourselves!
