NBA Topshot: A good investment?

Few weeks back I was told by a friend about NBA Topshot and their digital cards. NBA Topshot is a joint venture by NBA and Dapper Labs. Remember Crypto Kitties? That's who Dapper Labs is.

A simple way of putting this is that it's a digital card collectible and numbered NBA moments. You buy a pack open it and get to see your moments. Prices vary from 9 dollars to over 150+. There's a marketplace feature within the platform with priced going from 4 dollars for a moment up to over 100k. With a fast growing Reddit community, tens of thousands of people on Discord, mentions on ESPN and over 500k of registered users the project most definitely has potential to grow and see some good returns longterm.

NBA and collecting is a great passion for many so the potential is there. Dapper Labs has a good track history and also new plans of launching a similar project with a UFC theme in the future.

Then again, MLB on wax has not been the biggest success and the overall US baseball card collecting US thing from the 80's did not pay off long term, so who knows.

In any case, putting on the side the potential returns for now, it's an interesting project for people who already enjoy the NBA and collecting.
