Splinterlands Diary: End of Season Woes (Sky-High Renting Rates)
There’s still 4 days and 20 hours left before the end of the season and the prices of cards being rented are going crazy. The Card Sales Market is still relatively okay. Yes, the prices of cards being sold had also gone up but were far from the crazy Rentals Market.
For example; the prices of Epic Dice and Untamed gold foil cards averages 70 DEC a day which is crazy high considering that you could rent those cards for 30 – 40 DEC a day just a few days ago.
It’s still possible to get those cards for 30 DEC but you need to have the reaction speed of “The Flash” and matching PC and internet connection to get those cheap deals.
Of course if you wanted cheaper Epic gold foil cards, there’s still the Chaos Legion cards (Rewards) but these cards give much less Collection Power (CP) in comparison to Epic Dice and Untamed gold foil cards which gives 10,000 Collection Power a piece. And considering that these Epic gold foil Chaos Legion cards are only half as expensive but gives much less CP, renting these cards’ not really worth it – at least if what you’re after is CP.
Seeing the current state of the Rentals Market makes one worries what the prices would be a day before the end of the season. So if you see the prices of cards doubling or tripling as the season’s nearing its end, don’t be too surprise.
Is renting cards during the end of the season worth it? I think it depends on the players and what their aim was. If you’re someone who wanted to get the additional chest and better reward percentage in the Silver League then spending several dozens or even hundreds of DEC might be worth it.
For example, I have the rating which would allow me to get to the Silver II but due to the current renting rates, I often drop down to Bronze I or II in the past few days because refuses to rent the expensive cards flooding the Rentals Market.
The reason for I refuses to rent expensive cards these past few days was because my wining rate sucks in the Silver League and I have difficulty getting back the DEC I use to rent the cards. At best I could earn about 50 DEC a day at worst I could barely break even if I’m fighting in the Silver League.
That being said I might still rent enough cards to get me in Silver III (even though it might not be profitable) a day before the season ends just so I could get the 12 loot chests reward that the league offers.
