Hopium Is A Hell Of A Drug

The bitcoin and cryptocurrency sector runs on blockchain's but I think it runs on hopium even more. Everyone who gets into this asset class thinks they're too smart by a half, that they discovered fire and for that realisation they are now entitled to millions.

I've been hanging around these corners of the internet since 2015, while I am now OG I've seen my fair share of shit and took a lot of shit myself. I too shitcoined, I too lived on the hopium of the next hype cycle and I had to learn my lessons the hard way.

I bought tonnes of coins on all sorts of newsletter recommendations and PR puff pieces and what did I end up with? Nothing. The majority of people who get into the space will have the same experience I do.

I try to warn them, I try to offer a different opinion but no one is going to listen to the negative nelly. I know when I was on hopium, I wouldn't listen and would dismiss it as FUD.

Looking to the future and not the now or the passt

Shitcoiners who are high on hopium will always discount the past and the present and it's all about the future. Once this event happens or that code happens or when the entire world thinks the way I think, then you're going to see how right I was and how rich I am.

Dismissing sold arguments

When you're a hopium addict, you don't debate the merits of an argument, you will either concede the point and say you don't care. You'll attack the messenger, or you'll use some tangent to get out of the facts placed before you.

Hopium huffers can't hold a straight conversation.

Hopium huffers build echo chambers

When you're high on hopium, you need to constantly get a fix, so you create echo chambers of people willing to share the pipe with you. You hang out in discords, telegrams, and websites where no one will challenge your opinion or question anything.

It's all about sharing that positive sentiment and if we ignore risks, it will go away.

Hopium huffers rely on the madness of crowds

Instead of doing your own research, hopium addicts rely on the wisdom of crowds. If enough people repeat the same thing it has to be true. They don't consider the benefits some might get from misinformation and how acting like a useful idiot is how they are exploited by those who crafted the message.

Getting high on hopium can send you down a dangerous path, and while I honestly don't care what people do I am willing to put out-the-counter narratives for their bullshit. If you listen to it cool, if you don't fine with me too and you'll pay the price for it.
