Equilibrium coming June 30th: What news with the HF 25?
At the end of the month, after the HF 24 Eclipse, Hive will undergo a major new network update or HF 25, called Equilibrium, which will introduce among other things, three important new features for users: Linear Curation, interests on HBD Savings and limit governance
Linear curation
There has been much discussion about the curation deficit on the platform as the narrow voting window ideal for obtaining greater rewards falls too soon (on average around 4 minutes), an almost always insufficient time for users to read and finally choose the weight of their own. vote.
This meant the use of bot votes to try to always reward those users who get good votes on average. In this way many really well done posts are usually discarded by users as the time to decide is really short and you prefer to vote who has the highest rewards. This habit has created imbalances and reduced chances for new users scrambling to write good content. The voting curve has already been transformed into linear by @leofinance by dividing the rewards exactly in 50:50 between author and editor, radically eliminating the temporal voting window, provided that the post is always voted within 7 days of its publication.
The HF25 introduces the linear curve within 24 from the publication of the vote while it undergoes a slight variation after this period of time but there will be no more benefits and malus as intended today. A clear improvement in the name of fairness and finally the curators will all have the time to be able to read and vote the best posts in complete peace of mind.
Interest HBD Savings
Many of you will have already noticed the possibility of getting interest on HBD at the moment with an APR of 7%. Equilibrium will allow you to obtain interest on HBD only if moved to the Savings section of your wallet. The Savings section for those who do not know was created as a protection for their capital, requiring 3.5 days of time for its collection and guaranteeing the possibility of acting in time in case of phishing or hacker attacks. Well now your capital will always be safe and every user will receive great incentives to keep them there.
The purpose of the interests is to reduce the amount of HBD present on centralized exchanges, potentially exposed to manipulation, and to increase the attention on our system, becoming a real business center with high APRs. It is considering raising the current rate of 7% to 12/15% and there are those who believe that it should also be higher than this threshold, which is why many investors will want to accumulate HBD and get passive interest.
Governance
Currently, the governance system requires users to vote on witnesses, the validators of our blockchain, and that they retain their role until other witnesses pass their consent. In reality, it is easy to notice how many Witnesses are no longer operational and users have forgotten to revoke their vote or vice versa. In order for the Witnesses to be always efficient and constantly obtain a real consensus from users, every 12 months the community will have to vote for the Witnesses, who can be elected several times over the years and in this way must demonstrate their efficiency which is rewarded by the system.
The HF will also introduce significant technical improvements that will speed up processes, reduce consumption for servers (hey Elon Musk, we are truly eco-sustainable!) And a greater reliability of the chain. the HF 25 definitely marks another big step forward for the whole community!
