The instability and uncertainty of the global geopolitical framework is the preferred territory of financial speculators as they can exploit the fear of the people widely and manipulate the financial markets without too much suspicion. This is something that has been happening in particular in Europe for almost a year, with the first signs of inflation and has been consolidated since February 2022 with the start of the war between Russia and Ukraine.

Europe is dependent on raw materials such as gas from Russia, and sanctions on the one hand and the gradual reduction of gas from Russia have sparked the market with the price rising in just under a year from 30 euros Megawatt / now at 340 euros, over 1100%. If gas were a cryptocurrency someone would have shouted: Beware, it's a bubble! Instead, no one said anything. Only concern about the consequences that this price will cause to businesses and households, which is why governments are studying a plan to put a maximum price on gas, in order to prevent speculation from causing the failure of European industry. The recession is getting closer and closer.

Some European countries insistently ask for a maximum gas purchase price from large energy companies, in order to avoid speculation and new ATHs that would immediately reflect on the cost of living of the population. Many energy companies are tied to multi-year contracts whose cost is significantly lower than today and this is causing huge profits, which is why it is not easy to apply this limit, it is clear that there is an important lobby that is getting billions of euros without making nothing more than what has already been planned.

If you too suddenly receive 10 times the value of your monthly basic salary, could you give it up in the name of social justice? I doubt. It is therefore necessary that European countries find the right compresses in order not to disadvantage the financial energy world too much, and at the same time prevent the price from further increasing over time.

From the graph it is evident a drop of about 70 euros in the last hours, the reason for this seems to be precisely the concrete possibility of finding an agreement on the maximum purchase price (150 euros seems likely). The market then immediately reacted with a massive sale of Futures. It will be interesting to follow further implications in the coming days
