I'm always glad to see new people introducing themselves, especially in the bear market because nobody loves fair weather friends. Hive needs people to stick around even when the price action is less than stellar ( get it? because to the moon and stuff... ).

That being said I think the progress made in the pass few years to onboard new users has been timid at best and microscopically small at worse. And by that I mean that Hive still relies on the plebs to do all the marketing work which hasn't had the best results. I'm not saying that publicity by word of mouth can't work but that's more like the exception than the rule, so if you want to get a job done you must hire professionals or at least people who know what they are doing. Or we can whip the plebs harder until they get better results, punishing the lower classes has always been in vogue I guess.

In the rare cases when people stumble on our little corner of crypto heaven they have a giant learning curve to overcome with few tooltips or tutorials ( that I know of at least ) built into the front ends which in of themselves can be hard to wrap your brain around when you're a newbie. Sure, there are plenty of nice people that are willing to help and explain things but it's definitely not easy learning all the intricacies of Hive, not the mention Hive related stuff like communities and all sorts of tokens, etc.

And there's the earning side of things, where nobody tells you at the start ( and maybe for good reason ) how much effort you have to put into being perseverant and finding your stride or your niche where you feel comfortable posting and commenting on a regular basis. I know there are people out there who think it's ok that newbies have such a hard life on Hive because it's one of the few places where you can earn crypto for making content or screwing around ( like I do ). And while that last bit it's true, I'm not a fan of this approach to a very serious problem and I'm convinced this attitude plays a role in explaining Hive's still relative obscurity in the crypto space.

The short of it is this: things must get easier for newbies so that the platform can truly grow, and no matter how hard we ignore the problem or place our hopes in the mirage of the magical all singing all dancing dapps, that will fix everything; user growth will remain a very real and potential crippling issue.

Regarding the meme, it's not mean to be racist or anything in case a snowflake stumbles on this post. You can change rice fields with salt mines or any other notoriously hard working environment and you'll get the gist of the meme. Also if you don't recognize the dude in the meme, it's Filthy Frank from the good old days of youtube when edgy stuff was considered fun and you wouldn't get banned, demonetized, cancelled or a combination of those 3. I miss those simpler days...
