Hi fellow Lions,

Today I had some thoughts about what Hive could look like given the craze around billionaires trying to snap up Bitcoin like candy.

Capitalist

I don't usually do stuff related to crypto prices and whatnot but I think branching out into some of this stuff is interesting and can be fun at times. It's certainly not my forte but I have lots of different thoughts rollin' around the ol' brain lately. Let's see if I can transpose what I was thinking about earlier! Without making it sound dumb of course lol.

Will there be the same drive by developers to get a project going on Hive? With the token price increases, which are absolutely welcome but not crazy, there is usually increased interest in the product. There aren't too many blockchains out there with an ease of entry into it like Hive (once one understands the crypto learning curve with keys, is that a barrier) has while at the same time having thousands of users readily available and willing to test out anything from a game, a token to a website or community. Sure there are household names like Ethereum and EOS but the downside to those places is that it can get to be incredibly expensive, relatively speaking, to gain some influence on there and attract attention. If you have a blockchain like Hive where we have a few thousand daily active users and a token price around .12-20 USD, at some point there will be folks who will make some gambles with their projects and try to develop on a chain for $10k in Hive to set up an account with a pretty decent stake (50,000 Hive at $0.2) versus a chain like EOS (2.5k EOS at $3.96). I know this is what so many of us are trying to scream from the rooftops but I think with so much attention being on cryptocurrency right now, this might be the time to shine for Hive. Will we benefit from developers looking to branch out or start a product or will we benefit from people looking for a place to have less censorship and no big tech controllers pulling the strings? Hard to tell but they are definitely two of the biggest benefits of being on the hive chain I think. Gaming is a good portion of what goes on here so hopefully we can expand the influence and community of gamers besides what we’ve got now.

Forked Up

Will there be a point where it could make sense for something like LeoFinance to fork off and start their own chain entirely? I don't think that would happen but these things do get tossed around in the minds of some folks.

I am an enthusiast of Hive first which may seem like a bit of a foolish position to be in to some but that group is getting smaller or just not really growing the way it could with Steem. I don’t want to get too hyped on things though without seeing big picture possibilities. Sure things could be better but sometimes projects want to make their own mark of the world and a way they could do that is to take their data and fork it off into their own thing. Blurt did it, we obviously did but it’s a curious thought to have when you think of forks coming off the hive chain instead of just the different forks of the Steem chain.

I think the possibility of a group like Leo forking off to make their own mark is more of a possibility than some might want to accept, what do you think?
