I belong to the country world knows for its Information Technology - India. My country is known globally for high tech professionals, coders and the high flying startup owners.
This india is just a small part of my country, this is metro life where people live exhorbitantly expensive life styles. They earn millions, live in skyscrapers, roam in costly honda, mercedez and porsche. Their is no limit to their lifestyle expense calculations. But this is not where most of India lives. In India their are two different India

  1. Which is urban India, which is projected to the world
  2. The rural India, which is the real India and is called as Bharat.

85% of the population including me stays in villages or non metropolitan cities. This India is fondly known as Bharat. The cost of living in India is widely known and i guess any IT company while calculating their project costs would be taking into consideration those aspects. But today, in response to the challenge posed by OCD I am going to just elaborate the costs of this Bharat.

About my city

I stay in a city which is about 400 kilometers away from India's financial capital. We are part of District called Beed. My city has no importance in the history of the country. Its backward city, in-spite of being the part of the most developed Indian state, we are not connected by Railways. But we were one of the first cities to stay corona free for a long in-spite of having no high class medical facilities.

No amenities low costs

Our cost of living is minimal. Person earning $150 in a month is rich in our city. You will get many families whose income per year is about $350. My cousin works in a government department gets this salary and he stays in the up-market area of our city. There are no fancy hotels in our city, no shopping malls, no multiplex theatres.
(This is how the hotels in my city looks). In less than a dollar you get a full meal in my city. This is one of the biggest cost of living for anyone in our city. We dont have much needs as most of our expenses are saved because of non presence of these amenities.

How the costs are minimal?

The biggest profession in my village is agriculture, hence even in today's modern society we believe in barter system. We are from a family of agriculturists too.
When we are ready with the crop, at the beginning of the crop season we go and meet all the professional services vendors who are also known as Bara Balutedar.

Throughout the year we need services of cobblers, goldsmith, barbers, carpenters, temple servants etc. From the crop, a portion is given to all of them. Hence we incur no costs on these services through out the year.

How did housing costs increased?

Though i belong to a city, where there are very few job opportunities, no amenities, no connectivity or no businesses around, the costs of housing are growing up. Costs of houses range From $10000 to $100000. This is because the youths in my city left the place in search of employment and many of them are Uber Drivers in other cities. We provide maximum uber drivers to "India". They earn decent sum and send money to their families. Families then buy the real estate, which is pushing the prices up.

Costs of Education

There are government schools in my area but they provide very low quality of education. There are no basic amenities, teachers are not that educated. So obviously there are many government schemes to promote schools and these costs are not very high.

Conclusion

But in-spite of this my city is best. It values relations more than money. My city is bad economically, however there are many people still here who continue to support each other. They value morals and principles over money. We are the poorest city in the state but morally and ethically we are richest.
