BRUTAL HONESTY (Crappy platform reviews) : sMiles

Advertising apps and faucets for referrals is extremely commonplace on platforms like Leo. Don't get me wrong, some of them are worth a look, but we all know the author will exaggerate earnings in order to get that precious new sign up.

That's why I've decided to try writing a new series. The platforms that I've seen people shilling everywhere but in reality aren't worth your time.

I've decided to start this one off with a real stinker. sMiles.

The premise is simple, install the app, it tracks your steps each day, and pays you Satoshis via Lightning network in return.

And it does. But really slowly. And at an unknown cost to you. Everyone knows nothing is truly free, in sMiles case it seems that they depend on users getting impatient and using their advertising videos to increase their earnings to get to the minimum cash out amount of 1,000 Sats. ($0.45 at time of writing this article)

I've been using sMiles for exactly 1 month to this day and I'm at 900 sats. Not too bad for an install and forget app, but not great considering I'm extremely active, plus it's an app that requires access to your location.

Normally the true income from platforms with extremely low reward amounts is the referral system. But in the case of sMiles each referral is worth 100 sats, not a percentage of referral earnings like most. So that's not a viable income either.

The only way I can see this app being worth anyone's time is if they have access to a paint can mixer and strapping their phone to it. And even then I don't think it would cover the electricity cost.

I hope this series is going to save my fellow Lions some time, and reassure you that any platforms that I do endorse are legit.
