The thing I see here is a return to quality networking. Which is what social networks were really about, to begin with... the "value" lies in everybody building their personal brand; we're not just here to randomly scatter content and comments everywhere.

As for microblogging, it definitely can add to activity, but the question mark for me becomes in capping (or not) the payout limit for such content. What I mean is, I see a risk that long form content might be "diluted" and thus not be as worthwhile to pursue. I'm not a slave to "quality," but I am rather attached to the idea that content (in order to be rewarded) should add value to the user experience.

In any case, it'll be very interesting to see how this unfolds.
