Of course, I'm a big supporter of the value of engagement. It's what makes a community look dynamic and like something is happening.

One thing I will mention about commenting is to be cautious with "comments for commenting's sake." By all means say something when you have something relevant and meaningful to say... but there's also a point of overdoing it.

Contests and challenges are a good way to go, though. I'm glad Asher now tabulates a weekly "Engagement League" table for everyone... people tend to be somewhat competitive, and many like to see their name in print.

I've been pondering whether we should somehow team up with "HiveBuzz" and see if we can get some special LEO related badges instituted, particularly as they relate to voting and commenting. Might not be a terrible idea.
