Exciting Times!

Like many of us, I have been watching the rather remarkable climb in the price of our native Hive Token. Wow! Seems like all of those of us who have been around for a long time — and hung in there through thick and thin — are suddenly being rewarded for our patience.

As "amazing" as this may seem — and I'm definitely not suggesting that we shouldn't celebrate — I wanted to wrap a little perspective around what we're experiencing.

We're a BILLION Dollar Coin!

Aside from the $2.92 price, Hive is now also a billion dollar currency... at least for the time being. That's pretty exciting.

However, we can temper that a little bit by noting that even so, Hive has not yet broken back into the top 100 marketcaps.

In order to earn that distinction, Hive would have to trade pretty solidly above $3.00 a token.

But Then There's THIS:

If you've been here long enough, you might remember that our predecessor blockchain that we could call "Hive 1.0" was once a top-10 coin! In fact, I think it was once as high as 4th in market cap rankings, but don't quote me on that.

Just for grins, what would it take for Hive to knock 10th place Dogecoin out of the number 10 spot?

Approximately $76.50 Hive, give or take a bit, or a little over 26 times where we're trading right now!

Wait... did you say... DOGE??? That joke coin?

Yup.

Such is the insanity of the cryptosphere. Not saying that to be a downer, just to point out the huge change of scale that has taken place in the world of cryptocurrency over the past five years.

In the meantime, however, let's all just enjoy the makings of this "Santa Claus Rally" we may be on the front end of! It's early days, yet!

These are some of the more active Cat Communities — why not join them ALL? Remember, you can also "cross-post" your cat posts to them!

HiveCats by @curatorcat is a central "gathering place" for cat content on Hive; promoting the use of the #hivecats tag for feline content!

Cat Snaps by @manorvillemike is a place to post pictures of your cats when you don't have a whole lot to say beyond just sharing your cute photos!

*Caturday Community by @saboin is a community where we get to celebrate posts relating to Saturday — aka "Caturday" — our own special day!

*Cat Photos by @andrarchy is a "mixed use" cat content community; posts can be just photos or longer, as long as the subject is CATS! It has a lot of subscribers but is not very active.

*Cats by @captainklaus (and Sissi!) is another "general" cat content community; it's there, but not very active.

Last, but certainly not least, a special shoutout to the recently formed Hive Pets Community which has become quite active and has quite a bit of cat content!

There are a number of other feline communities listed on Hive, but I am not sharing them for now as they have not had any activity (by their Admins OR users) since the Steem/Hive fork. Updates as they become available!
