Just as I promised in one of my previous post, kindly click here to read the article. wrote the post 4 days ago.

I will be giving a detailed step by step procedure for using a portfolio management tool and one of which is the coingecko.

After reading this article, I am convinced that you will definitely have a good rethink as to why you need to organize and manage all your cryptocurrency assets.

In the article above, we explained in detail the essence of portfolio management and also buttressed on how it can make it easier for you to have a broad view of all your entire assets at once. Join me as I explain all the steps needed to set up your portfolio.

Let's begin by introducing you to the app through its official Link - coingecko. Should you prefer the mobile application, you can also get that through this link - coingecko mobile app. Which ever you prefer is Still cool, though for me, I prefer using the mobile app but I see not much of a difference between it and the web version. So let's get on with it shall we!

Signing up to coingecko

The registration process is simple and all that is required is your email and a password of your choosing. Endeavour to select a password you will not likely forget.

At any point, you can always select the forgot password option to retrieve your account. The major thing that will be requested is your email address. In essence, ensure you don't loose access to your email address.

After logging in, the interface should appear like seen in the image below. You can either open a subscribed account or a free one. By default, upon new account opening, you are authomatically provided a free account, decision to upgrade to a paid one solely lies on you.

Now that you have successfully logged in, look at the bottom of the interface, in the horizontal bar, you would see the icon for market - the very first icon anyway. Click it to open the list of various cryptocurrencies that exists. Clicking it will reveal them as shown below.

As you can see from the image above, at a glance, you can can view all the top 100 cryptocurrencies, together with their performance in the last 24hours, their global ranking, market capitalization, current price and even the entire global capitalization of all cryptocurrency assets.

So as you can see, this information alone can help you take some decisions as quick as possible. Should you now wish to go deeper, a click on any of the cryptocurrency will open up more information about them.

Setting up your portfolio

Now that we have successfully signed up and accessed the interface that houses the major functional icons we need, it is now time to set up our portfolio.

From the image directly above, click the portfolio icon located in the horizontal bar section. The page that pops up next will look exactly as mine below, provided you are using the mobile application.

In my case, since I already have an existing portfolio and I have many assets already added, I will creating another portfolio so that you get to see how I created it. In your case as a new user, you won't necessarily have to create additional portfolio, just proceed directly and click the icon 'Add a new coin to get started' as seen in the image below.

Clicking the icon will open up the next interface where you will now either have to search for the coins you intend to add to your portfolio.

Note, the only coins that are easily visible on coingecko are the top 100 coins in terms of ranking but these does not mean you can't find other coins on the platform.

All you need to do is to click the search button located at the top right hand corner or at the button in the horizontal bar of the interface.

So after selecting add the new coin, the interface below pops up for you to search for the coin.

Once you type the desired coin (In our case STEPN aka GMT), it is automatically revealed. The next thing you do is to click the ⭐ beside it.

Clicking the star simply means you are adding it to your portfolio only. Once it is clicked it becomes thicker, an indication that it has been added to your portfolio.

Once added, you then click the back arrow at the topmost left of the interface. Note by clicking the Star again, you are authomatically removing the coin from your Portfolio.

Although, once you do this, you will prompted with a notification before it is executed. Clicking the back arrow, takes you back to your portfolio and you will see the coin you just added as shown below in the image.

Adding details of your transaction

We have successfully added our desired coin, next is to add all the details of the transactions. This details include the quantity of the coin you bought, what price market value, time, date etc.

To add the transaction details, you click the add icon that is just beside the coin as can be seen in the image directly above. Doing this will bring you to the interface below.

Fill all the necessary details as requested in the boxes above. The date and some other details are optional, so you may or may not add them. Once done, click the **submit icon and you are done.

Note that, you can add as many coins as you want to your portfolio and you can even add multiple transaction details to a particular coin. All you need do is to click the plus (+) and more transaction details will be added.

For every coin you buy, endeavor to add them to your portfolio so that you can easily keep track of them and also know when you are on profit or loss. With this asset manager, you don't have to always do the calculation to know your profit or loss status, it does everything for you.

So that's all about how to add coins and transaction details in your portfolio manager.

Other side attractions

Besides being a asset management Platform, coingecko is also platform that can enable you get full details about any coin at all. Basically all the details you can think of about a coin can be gotten from the platform.

It also gives you an information about exchanges that trade a coin, their total market capitalization etc.

It is also a platform through which you can get news update and fundamental news that can impact the market. Indeed this app offers a lot of functions. Although it is not the only platform that can give some of these data, coinmarket cap can also offer some of this but not entirely all.

Hope I have been able to communicate well. If you have any questions, kindly drop them in the comment section, I will respond asap.
