Don't be a punk, own them!

It looks like I'm officially into #nfts. It all started about a month ago when I minted 22 PFPs from the Rare Ghost Club collection over on Ethereum. You can meet my ghosts here if you haven't already. I invested quite a bit of money into a project that I really think is going to be huge and comes from a company that I have faithfully supported for 10+ years. The only bad thing is that it's on a blockchain with insane fees and only a few friends from Hive are involved with me. I haven't sold any of my ghosts yet and dread how much the gas fees will cost me to do so once I finally do.

In comes @punksonhive from @themarkymark & @blockheadgames. I had a feeling that this project was going to be bigger than what I've seen so far over on https://nftshowroom.com/. Boy was a right, but even more so than I first imagined. I'm pretty sure Marky himself was blown away by the fact that these punks sold out just as HiveFest⁶ was ending in a mere 2 days.

I had been chatting with @derangedvisions about the potential for a well-put-together NFT collection on Hive, and he even wrote about it here. We both got involved with Rare Ghost Club and have been put off by the fees for every little thing. Gas fee to mint. Gas fee to list. Gas fee to bid. Gas fee to accept an offer. Plus royalty fees for every buy/sell of each ghost. The costs add up quickly over there, we both have just been holding for now.

When I saw @derangedvisions sell one of his punks for 5,555 HIVE before minting had even sold out (read about that here), I began the process of minting my first 2 punks right away. I minted two with the 40 liquid HIVE that I had sitting around. Half a day later I had gathered up 340 HIVE by swapping with a few of my other tokens and minted 17 more. This gave me 19 punks in total. A number that I am happy with, but pales in comparison to some other users like @yabapmatt, @theycallmedan, and various other big fish.

You can see my entire Punks on Hive collection by visiting https://punks.usehive.com/gallery/daltono. In fact, you can visit any user's gallery by replacing my username with another in that URL. There are many new features coming to the website soon, but Marky says he has been working for nearly 3 days straight without sleep. Props to you man, you've been killing. Time very well spent indeed, the community appreciates your hard work.

We can expect to have features such as better sorting, a more detailed market, more info on traits, and possibly even the ability to put in offers and not just purchase at the prices that are listed. Who knows what else will be implemented, but for now you can at least look at galleries and see what is listed for sale. Everything is currently listed from highest rarity to lowest. Head over to https://punks.usehive.com/market if you want to see what is up for sale.

I'm sure that a lot of Hive users missed out on the opportunity to mint their punks. The chance came and went so swiftly. Many expected these to take quite a while to sell out, but it turns out there was far more support than expected. There was a discounted price of 20 HIVE per punk during HiveFest⁶. The cost was going to rise to 25 per once HiveFest⁶ concluded. The thing is the entire 10,000 punk collection sold out before the 20 per amount disappeared.

If you didn't have any liquid available, then poof went your chance to mint. I feel extremely lucky to have been able to mint so many. Especially because one of my first punks has a rarity of 1,500. The rainbow-headed female above (ID: 5340) is one that will surely net me some decent HIVE soon, as only 7 punks have that hairstyle. I've seen people that minted 75+ not get one this rare. It still doesn't top the one I mentioned earlier that @derangedvisions sold for 5,555 HIVE. His ID: 2201 (now owned by @elmerlin) has a rarity of 2,201.

If you haven't figured it out yet, the higher your rarity, the better. That means if your rarity is under 100, it's pretty common. Anything over 500 seems to be fairly rare. Once you hit 1,000 you should feel pretty lucky. If you managed to mint or purchase anything over 2,000, then you have yourself an extremely rare punk. As of writing this, the highest rarity punk listed for sale is 3,578 (ID: 8941) owned by @wizardx. Good luck getting that one though, it is currently listed for 98,000 HIVE!

I'm so excited to see where this project goes. I know that Marky really cares about what is going on here and will continue to impress the community with his implementation of new ideas. I sense that the floor for these punks will rise quickly, so if you haven't already gotten one for yourself, you better now before they become too expensive to afford.
