Now or Never - An update well overdue

Sometimes it feels like I'm stuck, like I'm walking around in circles.

I haven't posted anything in a very long time. To say that an update is well overdue might be an understatement as it's been 1.5 years since my last post. But as they say, better late than never... 😅 But 1.5 years!! That has to be classified as Super lazy+.

There are many things to keep an eye on and it's easy to get hooked. When I sit down at my computer, here's an example of what I do when I'm "stuck". My own super lazy loop: Check SPS, DEC and HIVE prices, check Discord, check Splinterlands rentals and adjust prices, check card market, check coins/tokens on CMC, read new HIVE posts... and then Back To Go... check SPS price... 😉 I'm exaggerating, but the launch of Splinterlands Chaos Legion added to the excitement, with VOUCHERs, SPS airdrops and CHAOS Packs. So it's not difficult to enter a loop like that, especially when tired and the only power you feel you have is to perform a few random clicks with the mouse.

It's causing a huge distraction and with limited time available it's easy to procrastinate, and leave important and labor intensive tasks for later. As an example, it literally took me months to finalize this post.

Lurking in the background

Although I've been quiet on the blogging front, I've still kept working in the background. Splinterlands and Dustsweeper is where I've spent most of my time.

Market sentiments are not the best at the moment, but unless we enter a long and deep crypto winter, there should be some exciting times for Splinterlands and the HIVE blockchain ahead of us.

I've also looked after my investments, curating with my HIVE and LEO stake, and making sure my monsters are not left sleeping. I've mainly been renting out my cards as that's proven to be pretty profitable.

Splinterlands

As you might know, I'm operating the @sm-voter bot part of Splinterlands Discord. It's mainly a bot to provide stats for Splinterlands players. Below an example of some of the more popular bot commands.

Player Stats - The $stats command will display statistics for a specific player. A breakdown of cards and the associated market value. This takes into account owned cards and ignores delegations.

Cards Marketcap - $marketcap displays the total Splinterlands cards marketcap. It's a combined value of all players' decks in the game. Huge drop and we are down almost 60% since the peak. But comparing this with the rest of the crypto market it's not really that bad. Even Bitcoin is down almost 70%.

Deck Value - This is one of the newest commands. $value displays a breakdown of all players' decks grouped by value. Compare this with the $stats command to see where you stand. Will make an update to $stats in the future to display how you rank against other players.

Dustsweeper

There hasn't been any exciting news for @dustsweeper lately. It's mainly been maintenance work for me, making sure Dusty is running as smooth as possible. The higher HIVE price and an increased amount of delegation have drastically increased Dusty's vote value, so it has been very easy for Dusty to keep up with all the dust votes.

The Discord Server is the best place to stay up to date and to check your Dustsweeper stats, so please check it out if you haven't already.

See below screenshot from the Discord Server. Find the channels called #bot-hive or #bot-steem and issue the $stats command to lookup your own stats.

Witness

Since the move to the HIVE blockchain I never re-activated my witness. I never officially announce this and I think most of you have already reallocated your votes, but in case you are still voting, please feel free to remove the vote.

What's coming next

I don't want to put a deadline for my next post, but I will try to create some momentum and have another post ready within the next week. If I don't, feel free to slap me...

I have some interesting Splinterlands stats to share, including a fresh comparison of the various card rental services. So that will most likely be the theme.

So stay tuned.

Thank you very much for reading
