I have now been playing Rising Star for three weeks. I start a mission first thing each morning. Since your Drunk (Temporary) Fans wake up after 12 hours, I was always losing my fans during the night prior to starting my morning mission.

I now have Ego

Once you reach level 15, the Ego meter appears. If you have more Fans than Skill your ego percentage will start to rise. Missions also increase your ego. The Starbits you earn per missions is reduced when you ego starts to rise so it is very important to keep your ego under control.

Controlling your Ego

I have 273 Fans of which 13 are drunks. All but these 13 drunks have woken up and left. Early today my percentage of Ego was a lot higher so the missions I started earned me less Starbits. I need around 30 additional skills to offset the ego I have collected due to my higher Fan base.

You can gain skills by taking Music Lessons or from purchasing People Cards with skill. However the People Cards with skill is normally more expensive or have more Fans than skill. You must make sure you are purchasing cards that will not further cause your Ego to rise if you are already having an elevated Ego percentage like I do.

Take Music Lessons

To get my Ego back under control, By taking a Basic Singing Lesson, the reward is from 5 to 11 Skill points. For taking a Guitar Lesson, the reward is from 5 to 10 points. I have a microphone card which increases the maximum skill rewards that it is possible to earn from the Basic Singing Lesson.

I need to accumulate about 30 more skill points. I will need to take at least 3 to 5 lessons to get back to even.

Missions Add Ego

To open up the next area, I need to complete the Saturday Headline Mission which requires level 20 to start, 300 Fans and you must first have completed 8 Saturday Support Missions. The Saturday Support missions add a minimum of 3 Ego. I have taken this mission once today so if I take the mission again the mission will add 4 Ego. Just from the ego added from missions, I will need to take 2 more Music Lessons per day to stay even with my Ego.

Saving for a Guitar

I have decided to start saving for the guitar that is required to open up the next area. It is an i6 Mid Range Guitar that currently cost on the market 7250 to 7450 Starbits. Not only will this help advance in the game but it will also add 1 additional skill to the maximum I can earn per taking a Guitar Lesson. This will let me use that instrument for two different reasons within the game. One to advance and another to help keep Ego under control.

Still need more Starbits

To save around 7500 will take several more missions. I currently have 4843 StarBits on Hive Engine and another 397 StarBits in-game. You need to have the full amount of StarBits on Hive Engine to be able to make a purchase. Leaving me about 2000 StarBits short. By balancing the Music Lessons and the Missions, I am hoping to be able to save up that amount over the course of a week. This game is a big balancing act between all of the different components. It is fun to try to figure out which next actions get you further in the game.
