Hello everyone! I have been here on Hive for about a year now, making posts here and there. However, lately, I have noticed some unusual activity on my account (Potential Unauthorized Account Compensation?). As many of you know, I have been delving into a lot of tocics lately and have been generally busy irl, as well as moderating a spiritual community server. Here on Hive, I have been playing some Rising Star game (in which I really enjoy the music lately and use it as a real radio).

In all seriousness, though, I noticed transactions which I did not authorize, despite having my keys safely on my keychain, as well as some obscure activity overall. When I re-logged from a new browser recently, my keys would not work!

Thankfully, I had a good trustee (from OCD) to help me out with that. So at least, I got access to my single-point-of-failure account, which had all the Hive assets connected. Somehow, about 5 Hive were gone, but that is the least of the losses and potential damages!

After all that, I need to clean up a big mess, as expected. Thankfully, I secured all the keys, and now I am back in my account, in which I had very limited access to before. More specifically, I could only log in from a specific computer, which I could log in before. The reason being is that, for the most part, I was logging in via my phone to do my Rising Star game dailies, and that's it (in which I still like to stake for supporting that project).

Now here is the issue: I am unsure where to go from here, but one thing is clear - I am very grateful to those who assisted me in this tough time. Losing another account would be traumatic (since the Steemit days).

Currently, though, the thing to do would probably be to clean all the cookies and everything from all the computers/phones. Who knows? From what I recall from my CyberSecurity classes, loggers are some of the most common ways to steal credentials, other than straight-up social engineering attacks such as phishing. This reminds me that this post is actually to raise awareness regarding protecting your data!

So, until next time... Stay secure and stay safe!
