Stories and Aspirations, When Less is More.

Lately I pondered upon an observation about how humans tend to favor fantasies over reality in a more ideal sense, indeed there are gaps for guessing what is, albeit we as humans do seem to fill-in the gaps with aspects we would like or prefer to have in our lives, Such is the power that books draw from, the imagination that leads us to what we would love to see or experience, Perhaps in a more idealized version. I have come to realize over the year that this is especially true with stories we observe while also watch, it is rather boring to watch a movie where we more or less know what will or may happen, while on the contrary a story that lets us guessing will be more appealing.

This trend is nothing new as you can tell, the reason why modern movies (such as from particular adaptations of super heroes and so on) are popular is mostly because they represent what we came to love as younger beings from stories but only on a version that we thought we would like to see them in. In truth those expectations came along with a disappointment as the idealized expectation never met reality, in other words what we thought would be nice to see was actually less than expected and therefore that left a sort of ick taste. Now we all know what that means, and as with all things there ought to be balance. It is a beautiful thing that we have to aspire and to fill in stories with our personal touch of fantasy and imagination, the beauty comes from our personal participation and when lore and stories allow for such participation it can end up as a personal experience that we treasure, even though the creators of the story were never a part of our personal experience, they were indeed a contributor. Something to think about.

Thank you all for reading and I wish you a wonderful rest of the day!
