Greenpeace nutzte die Bilder der Skulptur für eine weitere Kampagne, um die angeblich schädlichen Auswirkungen von Bitcoin auf den Klimawandel darzustellen. Es wurden dafür sogar extra Aufkleber produziert, die von den Befürwortern der Veränderungen im Bitcoin-Code verteilt werden sollen. Diese Aktion stellt nach der Petition für den Umstieg von Bitcoin auf Proof-of-Stake, die Greenpeace-USA zusammen mit ihrem Unterstützer und Ripple-Gründer Chris Larsen initiiert hatte, nun einen weiteren Schritt der Hetzkampagne der Umweltschutzorganisation gegen Bitcoin dar.
Von Wong bezeichnet sich selbst nicht als Gegner von Bitcoin. Er will die Bitcoin-Befürworter auch nicht ins schlechte Licht rücken, sondern ihnen ihre Macht der Veränderung vor Augen führen. Er meint in einem Video, dass er die Adoption von Bitcoin durch seine aufklärende Kunstinstallation sogar vorantreiben will.

Der Künstler Wong freut sich über das positive Feedback und scheint selbst nicht mehr von der Greenpeace-Petition überzeugt. “PoS wird niemals für Bitcoin funktionieren. Es widerspricht seinem dezentralisierten Ethos”, schreibt er auf Twitter.

Mein persönliches Fazit:
Greenpeace scheint über das Ziel hinauszuschießen. Sich für die Umwelt einzusetzen und etwas zu verändern finde ich sehr sinnvoll. Die Aktion hat für mich ein Geschmäckle, da sie von einem Ripple-Gründer mitfinanziert wird.
Aus Protest gegen die Aktion von Greenpeace schließe ich mich der Aktion der Cryptocommunity an und poste bis Ostern das Bild "Skull of Bitcoin" auf meinem Profil. Ich würde mich freuen, wenn es den einen oder anderen Nachahmer auf Hive, Steemit oder Blurt gibt 😉 .

Greenpeace used the images of the sculpture for another campaign to show the alleged harmful effects of Bitcoin on climate change. Extra stickers were even produced for this purpose to be distributed by supporters of the changes in the Bitcoin code. This action, following the petition to switch from Bitcoin to Proof-of-Stake, which Greenpeace-USA initiated together with its supporter and Ripple founder Chris Larsen, now represents another step in the environmental organisation's smear campaign against Bitcoin.
Von Wong does not describe himself as an opponent of Bitcoin. Nor does he want to put Bitcoin proponents in a bad light, but rather to show them their power to change. He says in a video that he even wants to drive Bitcoin adoption through his enlightening art installation.

My personal conclusion:
Greenpeace seems to be overshooting the mark. I think it makes a lot of sense to stand up for the environment and make a difference. For me, the campaign is tainted by the fact that it is co-financed by a Ripple founder.
In protest against Greenpeace's action, I'm joining the cryptocommunity's action and posting the "Skull of Bitcoin" image on my profile until Easter. I would be happy if there were one or two imitators on Hive, Steemit or Blurt 😉 .
