A business logo is one of the greatest assets of any business that is why it is important for a business to put a lot of attention on its logo design. A logo is like the face of any business, it is what people are going to remember your business with. Think of the popular companies, we all remember them because of their logo… Apple, Nike, Microsoft, Amazon etc, their logo identifies the business and distinguishes them from the rest. While the primary purpose of a logo is to identify a business and give a business a face that stands it out from the competitor, it is also important for a logo to represent what the business is all about.

The Process

Using this logo as a case study, It was important for me to create a logo that represents what the business what all about. The business is focused on fashion wears with luxury and elegance as their core attributes. Before I began the logo design process, it was important for me to understand the industry and how to create a logo design that represents the core attributes of the business. As always, I follow my strict effective processes when it comes to creating an effective business logo design. I began the logo design process by having a discovery session with the business owner… this was very important as it helped me understand the business and what the business is all about.

After I was done with the discovery session and asking the important questions I needed and getting all the information I needed, it was time to proceed to the next phase. For me, my next phase after the discovery session is the research phase. I love this stage of the logo design process because it is where I take the knowledge I got from the discovery phase to the next level. At this stage, I try to look at the competitors of the business and similar businesses and what they are all doing in the market. I like to gather as much information as I can as it would be beneficial when coming up with an idea concept that stands out from the crowd.

After the research stage, I begin sketching out different ideas based on all the info I gathered in the first two phases. This is probably the most fun phase because I try to be as free as possible. I do this using a pencil and paper so as to be free from any software distractions. Once I am comfortable with the sketches, I pick out the best and then move to the execution phase. The execution phase it basically where I transform my sketch into a vector logo design. This is my favorite phase because my design comes to life at this point. Once the design is completed, the next is to move to the presentation phase and mockup on different backgrounds.

The importance of an effective logo design in business can never be over emphasized. When it comes to a business brand identity, the logo one of the most important brand identity elements. An effective logo can help a business achieve success in a short time. Also, for a business to become a brand, the logo is key as it is also a key factor of becoming a brand. Top brands like Nike, Apple etc all have effective logos, and if there is one thing that is common between all these top brand, they are all successful and their logo played a huge part to their success.
