In this post, I will be breaking down how I created this business logo design for Trentmoleon Construction, a company that specializes on construction of buildings. Creating this logo design was a whole lot of fun because it was all about finding a solution that works for the company and creating a logo design that fully represents what the company is all about. Looking at this logo design, you can clearly see that I was going for a bit if a visual representation rather than a logo with hidden meanings… I wanted to create a logo that instantly oozes what the business is all about just by looking at the logo. So when the target customers come across the logo, they will have an idea what the business is all about. That was my aim when kicking off the logo design process.

The Process

As always in every logo design project, there were challenges… the major challenge was how to create a design that not only visually represent what the company is all about but also to be effective… and for me, it was a challenge to keep the logo as simple as possible. As usual, the first thing I did was to get all the information I needed about the business and after that, I had to do my own research about the business and to know more about the competitors and general target market. This was fun as I learnt so much while in the research phase.

The next phase after gathering all the useful information I needed, was the sketching phase. This is one of my favorite stages as it allows me to freely express myself creatively without any holdbacks. I like to do my sketching on pencil and paper… this allows me to disengage my brain from the computer and allows me to focus solely on sketching out concepts. For the sketching process, I like to come up with multiple sketches and ensure that I try out as many concepts as I can think of before I begin to mark the ones that work best. After marking the best sketches, I begin to refine the sketches even more. Once that is done, the next phase was taking the best 3 sketches into my favorite vector program to bring the sketches to life. This is probably my favorite stage as it is when the logo design takes shape.

Once I was done executing the design in my vector design program of choice, the next phase is presentation. This is the stage where I begin to put the logo in different graphics and on images to get a feel of how the logo will look like on various surfaces. This is not the most fun stages but a very important stage because it allows the logo to be properly visualized in real world sense. Looking at the finished logo design, you can clearly see that what I was going for… I focused on minimalistic design, simplicity, cleanliness while visually representing what the business is all about. This logo offers a lot of benefits to the business as it is effective. An effective business sticks to the minds of the target customers and helps any business achieve its ultimate goal.
