A logo is something that a lot of people think they know about, but in reality, they don’t really know what it is all about and what it can do for any business. Some might think of a business logo as a just a combination of shapes or just a symbol, but in fact, a logo is much more than a combination of shapes or symbol. A logo is the face of a business, it is what gives a business its identity – an effective logo not only give a business its identity, it adds a lot more value in helping a business achieve success.

Becoming a brand is not an overnight thing… sometimes a lot of business owners refer to their business as a brand – this can be true, but not all businesses are brands. In fact, building a brand takes a lot of time and years to achieve. Look at top brands like Apple, Nike, Microsoft etc, they put in the work over the years to get to where they are now and becoming a successful brand. Simply put, a brand is simply your promise to your target customers. It is what separates you from the crowd and your competitors. A brand lives in the minds of your target customers, it is how your target customers perceive your business and what your target customers feel about your business when they come in contact with your business. Building this takes time… building that brand perception in the minds of your target customers doesn’t happen overnight… it takes having the right elements together, consistency, standing out from the crowd and creating the right environment and feeling for your target customers.

Looking at this, becoming a brand is not impossible once the right elements are in place. In this post, I will be talking about one of the key factors of becoming a brand… Business logo is one of the key elements of any brand. If you look at the top brands out there, you will notice that they all have some things in common and one of them is their logo. They all have a logo. In my opinion, a business without a logo doesn’t have a face… it is as simple as that. A logo is a must as far as running a business is concerned. A logo doesn’t have to be a symbol, a logo can be as simple as a type – as far as it fulfils the primary purpose of a business logo.

There are top brands that only use type as their logo. That is perfectly fine as there are various types of logo design. Depending on the type of logo you decide for your business, once it fulfils its primary purpose of giving your business an identity, it is effective. Identity is key when it comes to business and becoming a brand. Having an identity means you stand out from the rest. Think of a red berry in the mix of blue berries… the red berry has an identity which means that it can easily be identified in the mix of the blue berries and cannot be lost in the crowd. That is what having an identity means for a business. The market place is already very crowded and saturated… standing out from the crowd would make it easier for your target customers to identify your business which in turn leads to more sales. When your business logo is memorable and sticks to the minds of your target customers, it means they will always remember your business and when the other factors are in place, it can help your business become a brand.
