Augustiner Helles Vollbier

This week I found a new beer and quickly I did "Open, taste, picture & post" or like other do since 160 weeks #beersaturday.

It was fun to taste this beer

The special glass

Last Xmas, there was this little market booth behind the huge cathedral in Aachen. The guy works a few weeks in a little shack where he create nice drawings on glass.

As you see, I had to support that guy and made an order for a special beer glass for me.

A "Helles" from Augistinerbräu München

This beer is as well called a "Lagerbier Hell"

A particularly mild, sparkling, long stored beer, refreshing and easily digestible at the same time. Uniquely in its taste, a benefit for each beer connoisseur.

Ingredients: water, barley malt, hops and just ALC. 5.2% vol.

People say:

Two finger head, translucent light, light hay colour body, about the lightest colour on the scale. Smells of herbs, grass Taste follows the colour in that it is very light and well balanced a malty opening and subtle hop bittering, taste of flour, and lemonade. No off tastes. Goes down like a bomb.

Nothing better than this to relax on a hot day or after physical exertion.

What is a Helles

This one is called "Helles Vollbier"

“Helles” means “pale in color,” as these beers are often golden. The German-style Helles lager is a bit rounder or fuller-bodied than light lager and even all-malt pilsners. Helles lager beers offer a touch of sweetness that balance a measurable addition of spicy German hop flavor and light bitterness. The malt character is soft and bready, making it a terrific complement to light dishes such as salad or fresh shellfish, like clams. Clean and crisp, this is a refreshing beer with substance. Low levels of yeast-produced sulfur aromas and flavors may be common.

They say about theirselfes at their Website from camba-bavaria.de:

1328 This figure does not adorn the emblem of Augustiner-Bräu Wagner KG without a reason: In 1328, the Augustinian monks began brewing beer in their Augustinian monastery near the Cathedral of Munich. For almost 500 years the monks kept brewing their beer right in the Augustinian monastery - selling it in their, among the people of Munich, ever so popular "Klosterschenke" (monastery tavern). In recognition of the exceptional quality of the Augustinian beer, the ruling Monarch exempted the monastery brewery from all taxes back then. Of course the tax exemption has long since become a thing of the past. Just like our Augustiner-Bier is no longer brewed by monks wearing the Augustinian order's habit, but by our experienced brewmasters who use selected regional raw materials. And it came to pass like this:

and from the first few tastes, I have to say they did a good job at that Brewery

The story of this day

From 8 in the morning until late after 19:00 there was one video call after another and this means not enough walking and way to much talking.

We all know that talking makes damn thirsty and than I saw this beer in the fridge. What a smart guy I've been to shop a few nice beer in advance.

Where to get this beer

I found this at Hoffmann Getränke in Aachen and will use this beer Dealer some more ofter as they have a wide collection of German and international beers

Have a great day everybody

enjoy #beersaturday and stay with positive vibes
